Extraction Team Lead

The Extraction Team Lead is responsible to lead a team of workers and coordinate to ensure they meet production targets and quality standards. He or she will be tasked with training of subordinate staff in extraction production methods, safety, and company policy and procedures as well as the identification of health and safety issues. The Team Lead will operate and troubleshoot equipment, as necessary. Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.


Job Duties

  • Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policy.
  • Assist the supervisor in coordinating the daily activities of staff and assist in the use corrective actions to keep the project on time.
  • Coach team to provide continuous workflow in a professional, team-oriented manner with emphasis of quality goods in a fast-paced environment.
  • Identify quality and productivity related problems and solutions.
  • Coordinate and oversee employee work assignments and special projects.
  • Monitor efficiency and product quality.
  • Lead and participate with quality and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate information to the supervisors and/ or manager so that the team can respond, as necessary.
  • Provide technical guidance to personnel in the room.
  • Train technicians on operating and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Ensure all personnel comply with training requirements, work standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure team is aware of and following the daily schedule and goals to be met and or exceeded within the expected time constraints and quality practices.
  • Identify opportunities to generate increased productivity and reduce waste/redundancies.
  • Monitor and communicate with the supervisor the performance of a team of employees.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and legally compliant workplace.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment parts and consumable items.
  • Ensure that sanitation of room and equipment and maintenance schedules are followed and documented.
  • Record and maintain accurate batch production records in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures, the Cannabis Act and GPP.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in chemistry, chemical or mechanical engineering or related field an asst.
  • Knowledge of GPP and Cannabis Act is essential.
  • Previous experience or education in a mechanical or lab environment an asset.
  • Previous experience with extraction equipment.
  • Knowledge of various extraction processes.
  • Ability to follow strict operating procedures.
  • Experience working under GMP regulations.
  • Able to take and give direction and follow all company policies/procedures.
  • Maintain a positive outlook and willingness to learn and contribute to company success.
  • Ability to lead a team of individuals and address any areas of concern with respect to performance or processes.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to foster a healthy, productive work environment.
  • Ability to solve technical and quality issues and explain what needs to be done.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology.
  • Dedication to safety measure and best practice.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role preferred.


Work Conditions

  • Capable of lifting up to 50lbs
