Executive Director

Reston, VA

The Executive Director will be responsible for managing the contract for Post Release Legal Services for Unaccompanied Children. This will include oversight of all operations and services. The position will directly supervise the leadership team for the project with possible travel up to 25%.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Set the vision for the integration of the supportive functions and direct services
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with client to ensure transparency and communication of medium and long-term project activities, outstanding issues, and risk mitigation
  • Provide direct oversight of all work streams related to website, registration, referrals, training, QA, and reporting project deliverables
  • Work closely with the Director of Legal Services and the legal team, and other client’s stakeholders in the execution of deliverables and services
  • Directly supervise the Administrative Director of Operations and Capacity Building
  • Enforce uniform development and quality standards and ensure accuracy of project deliverables
  • Assure all annual and monthly reports are of high quality and delivered according to contract deliverable schedule
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in execution of all training, QA, subcontracts, and reporting project deliverables
  • Analyze trends in data and utilize to drive continuous quality improvement
  • Develop monthly reports using available data
  • Analyze data collection instruments, tools, and systems to ensure effectiveness and determine when necessary to update or expand systems to provide robust data to the client
  • Assure all financial goals are met
  • Assure all project risks are mitigated
  • Complete monthly financial reports related to project costs, fee, and labor


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Doctorate of Jurisprudence
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership in the field of unaccompanied children’s services, immigration, or refugee resettlement
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing projects at the national level
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working with a federal client relationship
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in determining quality of services


Preferred Skills/Experience: 

  • Masters in social services
  • Minimum of 3 years as practicing attorney
  • Experience developing technical training
  • Experience with website development and client tracking systems
  • Leadership experience with projects seeking OCIO ( Office of the Chief Information Officer ) approvals for technology systems at the federal level

  • Ability to work well both individually and in a team environment

  • Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
  • Ability to be flexible to handle multiple priorities and to work limited overtime as necessary
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Project) and MS SharePoint
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.


The pay range for this position is: $194,938.00 - $331,395.00
