Executive Chef

We are looking for an Executive Chef to lead culinary execution at our Portland Public House! As Executive Chef you will lead and develop our kitchen team, overseeing the daily culinary operations and directing menu planning and development. In this role it is critical to possess a strong knowledge of culinary techniques, various cuisines, and cooking styles, as well as a solid understanding of labor and food costs to achieve financial and profitability goals. Creating efficiencies and ensuring consistency in the kitchen is key, as is having the skills to mentor and teach your team. We are looking for someone who will inspire the team through a creative, innovative, and collaborative approach, with a commitment to quality and guest experience. 


This role will operate out of our Public House in Portland, Oregon and candidates will need to live in the Portland-Metro area.


Ideal candidates will possess:

  • 7-10 years experience in a culinary role, with at least 3 years in an Executive Chef or Sous Chef role; preferably in a high-volume, full service restaurant
  • 2-year degree, certifications, or equivalent education in Culinary Arts, Business, Restaurant Management, or related field; Culinary or business degree strongly preferred 
  • Required health and safety permits; Serve-Safe, OLCC, etc.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Creative and collaborative problem solver
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Front of House (FOH) management experience is a plus
  • Industry specific specialty training such as Cicerone, financial management, human resources, communication, wine and spirits, culinary, etc. is a plus.


Physical Requirements: 

This position works in a kitchen environment, which requires the ability to work in warm, humid, wet, cold, and busy conditions. 

  • Exposure to common kitchen cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity to handle knives and other kitchen implements
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Repetitive movements of hands, wrists, shoulders, etc.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel

Salary: 75.000-90.000 per year
