Environmental Technician I

Omaha, NE

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Technician I to be based in Omaha, NE.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to understand basic operation of Thermal Flashing Unit (TFU)
  • Loading/unloading MDAS material using heavy equipment
  • Documenting/recording material information (weights, treatment duration, temperature, etc.)
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment (i.e., jib crane, skid steer, generator, mini excavator)

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Pass a background check
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable outdoor conditions, including heat, noise, moisture, and dryness. Frequently (more than 50% of workday) standing/walking. Often (25-50% of the workday) performing work in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment, power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), and lifting less than 25 to 50 pounds. Occasionally (10-25% of the workday) performing repetitive bending/stooping, keyboard/mouse operations, repetitive fine hand movements, using portable ladders, operating vehicles and heavy, moving or dangerous equipment. Rarely (less than 10% of the workday) performing work with arms above shoulder level, working at heights, climbing stairs, and wearing fall protection. This position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses/goggles, gloves, safety shoes/boots and hearing protection
  • Successful candidate must be able to pass a HAZWOPER baseline physical examination prior to starting their assignment and participate in a medical surveillance program as per 29 CFR 1910.120(f)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Current OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training/Refresher is preferred
  • 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER training certificate
  • 8-hr trained
  • Heavy equipment certifications
