Environmental Scientist/Geologist

Coral Gables, FL

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist/Geologist to join our Remediation team in our Coral Gables, Florida office. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services to our key clients.


This position is expected to begin December 2021 / January 2022.

Job Overview:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with gathering and analyzing geological and hydrogeological data in both the field and office settings
  • Assist in preparation of investigation reports and drawings
  • Learn and develop a keen understanding of hazard recognition


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or related field
  • Ability/willingness to travel to job sites (up to 50% of the time)
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s license required


Preferred Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn a wide array of field activities including air, soil vapor, soil, groundwater, and sediment sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of investigation and remediation subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies.
  • Strong technical background
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable meeting with clients, colleagues, and sub-contractors alike. Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Flexible with working hours and locations, frequent travel within 1-2 hour drive of a home office, and occasionally further.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and rapidly master new tasks.
  • Strong research and report writing (including web-based research).
  • Strong quality and time management. Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training and 8-hour refresher training, as applicable
