In the role of Environmental Scientist, we'll count on you to:

  • Permit compliance support for industrial facilities in Idaho and elsewhere.
  • Permit compliance support could include assisting in preparing the following: Plan of operations (including irrigation and cropping plans).
  • Quality assurance project plans Ground water monitoring network analyses 
  • Runoff management plans
  • Waste solids management plans
  • Well location acceptability analyses 
  • Constituent loading plans (e.g. nitrogen, phosphorus, and non-volatile dissolved solids)
  • Ground water quality assessments 
  • Annual regulatory reports
  • Development of reports to be submitted to regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Data tracking, entry and assessment for hydraulic loadings, constituent loadings, soil sampling, crop tissue sampling, waste solids sampling, and ground water sampling. 
  • Interpretative discussions regarding the data. 
  • Determination of facility compliance with permits and state/federal laws. 
  • Support to HDR clients. 
  • This work may include: 
  • Compliance assistance with permit conditions. 
  • Sampling methods and monitoring requirement trouble shooting. 
  • Technical and scientific advice Soil and agronomic support Potential Work Includes: 
  • Assisting with development of recycled water reuse/land treatment sites in Idaho for new facilities. 
  • Assisting the agricultural technology sector (remote sensing, precision agriculture, etc..). 
  • Help preparing biosolids land application plans, assessment and permitting. 
  • Wastewater land application technical support Soil and agronomic support  
  • Compliance assistance and auditing for wastewater sites 
  • Field sample collection and site assessment support

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with the following: nutrient management, agronomy, soil science, groundwater quality management, irrigation management, and statistical analysis. 
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (ProUCL, XLSTAT, etc.)
  • Effective collaborator with ability to work with diverse teams including technical experts, regulatory specialists, engineering staff, contractors, and client and agency representatives.
  • Local candidates are preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or closely related field
  • Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • MS Office experience
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
