Environmental Planner

Remote (United States)

You will assist a federal agency in executing its environmental program and complying with environmental laws and regulations, such as the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). Strong communication skills, a demonstrated ability to deliver innovative solutions, a sound understanding of environmental laws and processes, and creative problem-solving acumen are critical success factors.


Responsibilities

  • Supports federal environmental branch lead as a part of our environmental technical team.
  • Analyze the potential effects programs/projects have on the environment and provide expertise to mitigate the effects to achieve program goals.
  • Prepare, update, and provide environmental planning reports as required.
  • Develops environmental clearances, technical reports, biological surveys, consultations, and guidance in compliance with federal government policies and directives
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations for projects across the country
  • Tracks progress of environmental requirements until completion and ensures final documents, mitigation, and metrics are recorded in various federal government tracking and repository systems
  • Coordinates with multiple internal and external stakeholders to include regulatory agencies and other branches of federal government.
  • Ensures coordination of all activities associated with environmental activities are appropriately scheduled and completed on time for geographic deployments to occur on schedule.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field required (science, engineering, etc.)
  • 3+ years of overall experience required with 2 years of experience in NEPA compliance preferred.
  • Previous work with federal portfolios and program offices is a plus.
  • Work experience in one or more of the following areas: NEPA, NHPA, ESA, CAA, CWA, RCRA
  • Development and implementation of environmental-related training programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint; TRIRIGA; and ArcGIS.
  • A true team player who maintains a positive attitude in a dynamic environment.
  • Relevant professional certification or training in environmental planning preferred
  • Ability to work productively in a telework/mobile work environment required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance; US citizenship required
