Environmental intern is responsible for supporting Environmental Management team in achieving key department objectives (continual improvement of Environmental Management System, on-time and accurate environmental compliance reporting, environmental outreach, training and communication).

The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

Assist with data collection, analysis and calculations for environmental compliance reports
Assist with Environmental Management System topics (documentation updates, auditing)
Assist with environmental compliance inspections (stormwater, waste)
Develop environmental news articles and quarterly newsletters
Data administration in Environmental Compliance Reporting software
Coordinate environmental training
Maintain Environmental intranet site and communication
Plan annual Earth Day event (Spring term)
Complete annual Tier II environmental compliance report (Spring term)
Review and update environmental plans (required by regulations) for plant
Environmental training course development
Develop and maintain plant water flow diagrams
Maintain chemical and waste data in Environmental Mapping System

Qualifications and Experience

Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering degree
Microsoft Excel (experience with advanced functions (vlookup, macros, etc.) preferred)
Basic knowledge of US federal environmental regulations (CAA, CWA, RCRA, etc.)
Detail-oriented and strong organization skills
Effective written and oral communication skills
Motivated team member who can work well independently and in teams
Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week).
Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.
Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
