Environmental Intern

Spartanburg, SC

Environmental intern is responsible for supporting Environmental Management team in achieving key department objectives (continual improvement of Environmental Management System, on-time and accurate environmental compliance reporting, environmental outreach, training and communication).


The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

  • Assist with data collection, analysis and calculations for environmental compliance reports
  • Assist with Environmental Management System topics (documentation updates, auditing)
  • Assist with environmental compliance inspections (stormwater, waste)
  • Develop environmental news articles and quarterly newsletters
  • Data administration in Environmental Compliance Reporting software
  • Coordinate environmental training
  • Maintain Environmental intranet site and communication
  • Plan annual Earth Day event (Spring term)
  • Complete annual Tier II environmental compliance report (Spring term)
  • Review and update environmental plans (required by regulations) for plant
  • Environmental training course development
  • Develop and maintain plant water flow diagrams
  • Maintain chemical and waste data in Environmental Mapping System


Qualifications and Experience

  • Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering degree
  • Microsoft Excel (experience with advanced functions (vlookup, macros, etc.) preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of US federal environmental regulations (CAA, CWA, RCRA, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented and strong organization skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Motivated team member who can work well independently and in teams
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
  • Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. 
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.  
  • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE (January 3,2022 - May 6,2022).
