Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability Manager

In the Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability Manager role, you’ll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world. 


We’re looking for someone who is passionate about and a leader in the development of Environmental, Health and Safety systems and standards to support achievement of our Huntsville Mill facility objectives. In this critical role, you’re responsible for monitoring compliance with established practices and analyzing problem areas of injuries, health impairment and environmental impact. These efforts ensure compliance with corporate and local legal regulation for environmental, health and safety.


Essential Accountabilities:

  • Develop and support annual environmental, health, and safety strategies for the facility that are in line with the sector, to ensure that systems and standards are following and meet the company objectives.
  • Ensure that the facility and its processes are in compliance with current and evolving legislation from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Labour and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Provide direction to 1 to 4 direct reports and/or consultants in the execution of the facility EHS strategy and on the development of mill wide EHS systems, as well as managing the internal review process of the same system.
  • Collect, track, report and analyze the site’s key EHS performance data and metric, and initiate problem solving to improve those results.
  • Complete mandatory local legislation environmental reports.
  • Train and motivate people in health, safety, and environmental best practices and behaviors.
  • Support or conduct investigations of all significant safety/environmental-related incidents and support employees/HR department on resolution as required.

FLEXIBILITY:

  • Willing to flex schedule to support personal and business objectives.
  • Available for “call ins” to support business objectives.
  • May require some travel.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Industrial environment (noise, dust, moving equipment).
  • May include prolonged periods of standing and/or sitting, along with occasional bending, reaching, lifting, climbing, twisting, stooping, etc.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

  • University or college degree (or specialized diploma in a health and safety, environmental discipline) or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience and leading a similar team.                     
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Business Management Programs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.                                                                   
  • Knowledge of Federal, Provincial, Health & Safety and Environmental Laws and Legislation.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP experience.
