Environmental Engineer

Memphis, TN

The environmental engineer will be responsible for interacting with the Nucor team to assist development and improvement of both the Nucor Steel Memphis environmental department and the division. They will assist with coordination of compliance in air, water, waste, and radiation permits, licenses, rules, regulations and programs. Additional duties include taking a lead role in mill-wide safety efforts, environmental projects, training, audits, and community outreach. 

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four (4) year degree in environmental or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as in an environmental or related field in a manufacturing or industrial facility.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a constant temperature changing environment. 
  • Minimum of 2 year analyzing data from environmental systems.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act and RCRA Regulations 
  • Minimum of 3 years in MS Office, Math, and Oral/written Communication


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience with ISO 14001 certified environmental system
  • 2 years’ experience with EAF baghouses, CEMS, water systems, waste management, and radiation systems.
  • 4 years of experience in programs such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and RCRA regulations
  • 4 years’ experience in an Industrial, consulting, or regulatory experience in environmental engineering, environmental compliance, or environmental management or some combination thereof.
