Environment, Health & Safety Specialist

AECOM has a position available for an Environment, Health & Safety Specialist to work in Newark, Delaware at our client's site. This role will assist the site EHS team in support of Research & Development laboratory operations while maintaining compliance with Federal, State, Corporate, and Site standards and requirements.


The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Support of site radiation safety program including the conduct of regulatory-required inspections, monitoring, and maintaining all required records and documentation
  • Support of site industrial hygiene programs and regulatory compliance through conducting respiratory protection fit testing, noise monitoring, air sampling, ergonomic assessments, generation of sample/study reports, and maintenance of all required records and documentation
  • Support the site environmental program and compliance through conducting corporate and regulatory inspections and assessments
  • Management and upkeep of EHS databases and tracking systems
  • Ensure proper inventory management, maintenance, calibration, and documentation of industrial hygiene and radiation safety equipment
  • Maintain and communicate relevant EHS metrics
  • Review of site EHS procedures
  • Perform other duties and cross-training as assigned
  • Perform all job duties in a safe manner and in compliance with safety policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or the equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Demonstrated ​experience with and knowledge of industrial hygiene equipment and sampling techniques/methods
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health or related field is preferred
  • Self-starter and self-motivator with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Must be highly organized and demonstrate excellent judgement, decision, and discretion
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with individuals across all levels and functions (research, maintenance, management)
  • Valid Driver’s License anddependable transportation
