The Team:

American Girl is searching for an experienced Employment Manager reporting to the Sr Manager Human Resources. This position is located in our Washington DC Retail location. This location for American Girl offers a quintessential American Girl Experience including a Bistro and Doll Hair Salon Immersion Experiences. This individual will also have employment management responsibilities for American Girl Retail locations in Charlotte, NC and Nashville, TN.


The Opportunity: 

American Girl is searching for an experienced Employment Manager reporting to the Sr Manager Human Resources. This position is located in our Washington DC Retail location. This individual will also have employment management responsibilities for American Girl Retail locations in Charlotte, NC and Nashville, TN.


What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • This individual manages employee relations, at times in partnership with Mattel’s Employee Relations center of excellence, including all information gathering and problem resolution, involving all levels of management as necessary.
  • Provides coaching, counseling, and guidance to all levels of personnel in order to build skill levels and enhance personal development.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are consistently administered and adhered to with an end result of achieving excellent customer service. 
  • Manages the employment process for all variable and hourly positions with the creation of effective recruiting/advertising campaigns. 
  • Recommends training and assists with strategic planning that directly affect the AG Place hourly population.
  • Instrumental in leading teams responsible for employee activities. 
  • Responsible, in part, for recruiting and employee activities budget.


What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of retail Employment Management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of local and Federal Employment law
  • Must be open to flexible schedule including weekends
  • Knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices
  • Previous experience hiring seasonal/temporary workforce
  • Working knowledge of ATS & HRIS systems; Experience with Workday preferred.
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
  • Knowledge of effective recruiting and screening practices
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal, counseling and problem resolution skills; ability to work in complex situations and remain calm under stress
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to act as a facilitator in a group setting
  • Organizational skills, ability to coordinate multiple tasks, delegate appropriately and meet deadlines/goals
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • The annual base salary range for this position is between $90k and 115k. **This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
