EHS Manager

Seattle, WA

The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the integration of environmental health & safety services into the business practices and compliance with regulatory requirements on their assigned Project. The EHS manager shall be project based. The EHS manager oversees responsibilities of their assigned Project as related to environmental health & safety services and has direct interaction with EH&S Staff, Superintendents, Project Manager, Project Executive and Area / Regional EHS Director.

 

Has demonstrated proficiency in:

  • Building and Construction Knowledge - EHS : Applies building and construction knowledge to properly assess all EH&S risks and exposures during all phases of the project progression.
  • Communications: Creates and delivers communications that express ideas clearly and concisely using appropriate mediums. Targets the amount, form, level of detail, and content of information to the needs of the receiver/audience.
  • Compliance Inspections: Conducts compliance inspections to ensure hazardous conditions or at-risk behaviors are identified and corrected and that project teams are following EHS policy and procedures. Implements and maintains corrective actions to remediate non-compliance.
  • EHS Performance Indicators: Maintains, tracks and trends all leading and lagging indicators and provides environmental, health and safety (EHS) statistics necessary for submitting reports and communicating performance to all affected groups.
  • EHS Regulations: Keeps current on all EH&S regulations and utilizes all federal, state and local requirements, industry standards and governing regulations to provide guidance and effectively communicate changes to affected groups
  • EHS Tools and Technology (USB 0,2, USC 0,1): Utilizes digital platforms, tools and systems for tracking and trending EH&S metrics, creating EHS plans and report documentation
  • EHS Training: Develops, implements and delivers training to field operations employees about Skanska’s EHS programs, policies and procedures as well as local and federal requirements and regulations.
  • Incident Management - Project-level: Conducts and/or manages incident investigations ensuring that accidents involving personal injury, property damage, environmental impacts, etc. are thoroughly investigated, analyzed, and documented.
  • ISO Standards (SHEMS): Implements and communicates the requirements of Skanska’s Safety, Health and Environmental Management System (SHEMS) and ensure conformance to the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Standards.
  • Plans and Specifications - EHS: Reads and interprets client/owner specifications and EH&S requirements. Outlines and makes recommendations to ensure compliance with all EHS regulations and standards, Skanska policies and all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Recordkeeping: Receives, tracks and maintains all EH&S related documentation (Incident reports, training records, monitoring and calibration records, SHEMS documentation, etc.)
  • Risk Management: Identifies potential risks related to operations, specifications, scope, and project execution. Develops plans and strategies to mitigate risk throughout the life cycle of a project.

  • Influences parties within and outside of the job function at an operational level regarding policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.
  • Manages major/complex projects, including delegation of work and review of others' work product.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred – Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety, or equivalent experience and minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience.
  • Requires deep knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • May have a broad knowledge of project management.

Salary Range

Annual Salary Ranges: 115,000 to 184,115
