Editorial Assistant

Austin, TX

Huckberry is seeking an Editorial Assistant to join our growing content team. The role will report directly to our Senior Journal Editor and will assist in writing, producing, and editing content for the Huckberry Journal. We’re looking for an ambitious, communicative, positive person to help grow the creative content arm of one of the most exciting men's lifestyle brands out there.


Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Journal Editor to write and produce creative, A+ content within the Huckberry brand voice
  • Supply all relevant channels (email, social, e-commerce, etc.) with required content and related assets on tight deadlines
  • Manage editorial calendar in AirTable, including both the Journal team’s internal workflow, as well as projects that intersect with other departments
  • Identify trends and subject matter of interest to the Huckberry customer and pitch related stories in the Journal’s weekly editorial meeting
  • Write two assigned Journal posts per week
  • Oversee the collection/production of all design assets (images, illustrations, etc.) required for Journal production
  • Update SEO and product-focused posts weekly
  • Be an active contributor and have strong opinions about editorial strategy
  • Closely manage deadlines for writers both inside and outside the organization
  • Display a genuine curiosity and interest in writing about the kinds of topics we cover
  • Build Journal posts using the Huckberry CMS
  • Assist in managing team of freelancers, including contracts and payments
  • Assist in building relationships with Huckberry Ambassadors and creative freelancers
  • Support Copy and Social teams with copywriting, pre-production, and other administrative responsibilities

Requirements
  • 1-3 years writing digitally native A+ content
  • Great attitude, high energy and hustle
  • Strong sense of voice and tone, and a demonstrated ability to write within a distinctive brand voice
  • Experience as an active contributor to editorial strategy
  • Experience with day-to-day management of content calendars
  • Strong interest in product marketing
  • Ability to copyedit quickly with a great attention to detail


Bonus points if you have:

  • A passion for men’s style and gear
  • Project management experience, including that involving freelance contributors
  • Understanding of content strategy including SEO best-practices and content KPIs
  • Familiarity with Photoshop and the Adobe Creative Suite
