Distribution Center Manager

Coppell, TX

The Distribution Center Manager position is responsible for achieving the operational and financial objectives for the Distribution Center, ensuring a cost-effective operation, as well as efficient utilization of the facility to balance productivity, service levels and safety.  Working closely with the Distribution Center Director and the other Operations Managers, this position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of their assigned shift including reporting, shift schedules, forecasting and planning, labor management, performance KPI accountability, futureautomation, system upgrades and implementations.

Responsibilities

  • Owns and develops plans for promoting team collaboration and accountability for meeting performance objectives, based on key performance indicators and financial budgets 
  • Builds and motivates cross-functional teams to achieve company objectives 
  • Clearly and effectively communicates the company vision and promote the 7 foundation principles 
  • Ensures that direct reports have the support and tools needed through effective coaching, development and work product awareness 
  • Builds a culture of safety while maintaining consistent application of safety policies and procedures   
  • Oversees and direct 2-6 Supervisors, as well as 50-150 hourly specialists 
  • In collaboration with the Distribution management team, determines the shift or department’s labor needs, work schedule and adjusts accordingly when appropriate to best manage payroll and service level requirements  
  • Maintains and promotes a safe work environment for all employees in accordance with Federal and State OSHA regulations and policies 
  • Evaluates all company and distribution reporting and metrics and applies that knowledge to drive efficiencies throughout the operation 
  • Leads, coaches, trains and manages the values and attitudes of all distribution employees by managing behavior, actions and performance through proper communication and follow-up 
  • Conducts timely and objective salary and performance reviews of direct reports and participates in full-time and part-time staff reviews, as appropriate 
  • Manages corrective/disciplinary action while collaborating with the Distribution Director and Human Resources on the appropriate conversations, actions, follow-up and documentation 
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment 
  • Contributes to a clean and safe Distribution Center 
  • Consistently arrives promptly to work the assigned schedule 
  • Responsible for maintaining discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information 
  • Performs other requested tasks and duties as needed

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred
  • 5-10 years distribution center experience; retail experience a plus
  • Computer literate with experience in operating a database, spreadsheets, and Microsoft software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and daily tasks in a fast pace working environment
  • Previous experience with automation, LM and WMS(Manhattan) experience preferred
  • Experience managing others including career development, directing and evaluating work
  • Ability to pass background checks and investigations due to foreign, federal, state and local regulations; based on position responsibility and sensitivity, periodic check and re-investigations may be performed 
  • Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs
  • Knowledge of industry business and passion for following trends in the industry 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization
  • Ability to quickly separate the mission-critical tasks from the lower priority tasks; focuses on the most value-added projects of the day or week
  • Flexible, with a positive attitude and passion for knowledge
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Located in the DFW area on a hybrid schedule
