Director, Visual Merchandising & Store Design

What We Need

As Director, Visual Merchandising & Store Design, you will be responsible for Store Design and Visual Merchandising for our Global store experience including boutiques, shop-in-shops, pop-ups, specialty stores and events. 


Responsibilities

  • You will lead the concept and development of new store design, fixture design and visual merchandising initiatives for the globe. Elevating the customer experience, communicating brand messaging and promoting product engagement. 
  • Lead design, planning, development and execution/installation of visual merchandising projects, including all types of events. 
  • Create production ready mechanicals. 
  • Develop design strategies that align with project schedules and budgets, evaluating and proposing alternatives as necessary to solve budget and technical challenges.
  • Provide design solutions and resolve design issues with VP Creative.
  • Provide clear, effective and timely communication of design direction and changes to the agencies, contractors and consultants.  
  • Ability to translate design principles/objectives into unique and varied store locations.
  • Execute window and in-store creative and visual merchandising. 
  • Establish strong partnerships with key cross functional business partners including Marketing, North America Retail and International Regions.
  • Manage Visual Merchandising team.
  • Manage design development/prototyping budget.
  • Assist with additional projects/assignments as directed by your manager.

  • Current knowledge of industry trends in retail store design and visual merchandising
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools and working knowledge of color and design principles
  • Knowledge of architectural details and specifications for construction document production 
  • Ability to balance design, with operations needs and budget objectives resulting in exceptional store environments
  • Ability to challenge and inspire partners to achieve business results
  • Ability to execute multiple designs under tight deadlines


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Industrial Design or Graphic Design
  • 6 + years of experience executing retail store design, fixtures, visual merchandising 
  • 2 - 3 years supervisory experience - managing and mentoring staff
  • Adobe CS: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
  • 3D design Software - experience in SketchUP
  • Google Apps


International Travel requirement:  must be able to travel up to 10%


Reports to:  VP Creative 


The Details:

The expected base salary range for this position is $135K to $165K. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location (San Francisco), and budget.


This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan, based on personal performance and company results.
