Director, Software Engineering Property

Remote Addison, TX

This role is based in McLean, VA, Dallas, TX, or Memphis, TN, with the possibility of being remote***

What will I be doing?

As the Director of Software Engineering Property, you will be responsible for crafting development standard methodologies and dev culture along with leading development managers and engineers to assure development efficiency, hiring and onboarding engineers, mentoring, and educating engineers, and focusing on building a strong culture to power the delivery of Hilton’s next generation property management system. You will play a key role to drive new capabilities by redefining the current state property management systems and integration architecture into an above-property cloud-based architecture to support over 6500+ properties around the globe.


More specifically you will:

  • Own and communicate Software Engineering's standard processes, work efficiency, and quality
  • Build and drive adoption of the best methods and follow core software engineering principles
  • Create positive partnerships with the product leadership and software engineering management to ensure engineers are applying these principles and provide the opportunity to give immediate feedback when needed
  • Establish metrics and code review process to track efficiency and standard methodology adoption
  • Provide updates to leadership periodically
  • Craft a process to supervise development efficiency through metrics and product team feedback
  • We believe the work environment plays a meaningful role in productivity and you will team up with office space managers to ensure spaces are customized to provide an optimal work environment for software engineers and solicit continual feedback from product and engineering
  • Form a team of committed software engineering managers to support the hiring, onboarding, training, mentoring, and career development process
  • Establish a distinctive and steadfast software engineering culture which will be crucial to put Hilton top of mind in the development communities.
  • Provide expert leadership and translate business requirements to what engineers are working on

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

  • Twelve (12) Years of professional experience in Technology or a related field
  • Six (6) Years of Management/Supervisory Experience
  • Experience working with technologies including but not limited to AWS cloud solutions, Microservices, and API management
  • Solid experience in Agile methodology best practices
  • Ability to travel 25%


It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree plus 6+ years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 12+ years of Technology related experience
  • Fourteen (14)+ years of professional experience in Technology or a related field
  • Understanding of Property Management Systems
  • Eight (8)+ years of Management/Supervisory experience
