Individual and Family Plans (IFP) is a growing business within UnitedHealthcare. The Director of Product Marketing is responsible for driving the IFP marketing communication strategy and product marketing operations function. Through leading a team of marketers and partnering with the product, legal and regulatory teams, this role will contribute to driving key success metrics for the business including new member acquisition, member loyalty and engagement rates, NPS and brand health. This role is responsible for developing our product and IFP brand communication strategy, leading relevant consumer research projects, leading multicultural marketing efforts, deploying brand/product copy to the full marketing organization, managing state specific regulations and leading the filing efforts for state specific marketing materials. The ideal candidate will thrive in a highly matrixed work environment with a high degree of team responsibility and strong collaboration skills.  The Director of Product Marketing will report to the Vice President of Growth Marketing. This role will work most closely with the product management team, legal/regulatory teams, creative services team, and functional marketing teams (Experience, Acquisition, Member Loyalty & Partner Marketing).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide thought leadership and influence new marketing strategies to drive development of innovative, industry-leading marketing communication approach
  • Lead efforts to connect IFP business strategies/goals and determine strategies for the Product Marketing team to address customer requirements and marketing efforts
  • Lead development of consumer insight learning plan as it relates to product and brand communication
  • Lead marketing communication strategy for the IFP products, benefits, and features
  • Lead marketing campaign strategy and develop campaign style guides for partner and creative teams to use to execute deliverables
  • Lead multicultural communication strategy and activation across marketing functions
  • Partner closely with product management team and manage all national and state level product information for marketing team
  • Lead efforts to ensure deliverables from external partners (e.g., ad agencies) are aligned with applicable marketing goals, strategies, and initiatives
  • Lead team to partner with agencies/copy writers to develop the specific product copy to be used in acquisition and member marketing materials
  • Team to work closely with legal to ensure communication is compliant with legal guidelines
  • Lead all regulatory marketing needs and ensure compliance by marketing organization along with development and filing of marketing assets
  • Cultivate relationships with applicable internal business partners to drive support, understanding and collaboration on our marketing efforts (e.g., Product Management, Legal/Regulatory, Creative Services and other marketing functions)
  • Directly supervise team of marketing managers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of experience leading B2C/DTC brand management, marketing communications or product marketing teams
  • 5+ years of experience in analytics driven and fact-based decision making
  • 5+ years of experience team management experience with multiple direct reports
  • Experience in consumer research and segmentation
  • Experience in leading Multicultural Marketing efforts
  • Experience leading complex initiatives in an ambiguous environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA
  • Fluent in Spanish Language
  • Experience in the healthcare industry
  • Experience in a Start-up / Growth business
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with the ability to cross technical and non-technical stakeholders 
  • Track record of establishing effective cross-functional partnerships and relationships at all levels in a highly collaborative environment 
  • Persuasive written, oral, and presentation skills

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $113,500 to $218,100. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
