Director, People & Culture

Remote (United States)

The Director, People & Culture owns the comprehensive people strategy for the LEAFLY organization and provides oversight and leadership over all HR-related functions. Serving as a trusted advisor and partner to leaders, this player-coach offers a broad range of tactical and strategic expertise in areas of talent management, performance management, total rewards, organizational effectiveness, and people strategy execution. We are looking for a change-enabler to develop employee relations strategies that drive positive change, lead initiatives to strengthen culture programs focused on equity and ethical business practices, and play a key role in fostering an inclusive culture of social justice, diversity, and equity across Leafly. 


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Lead the HR team with a focus on driving a high-performance culture and integrating HR processes to positively affect people experience 
  • Develop strong relationships with leadership to understand key people needs with goals of establishing credible partnerships and an understanding of the strategic role of HR 
  • Develop and lead execution of the Talent Management and annual HR processes and establish HR metrics to inform talent decisions and influence talent impacts 
  • Build strong rapport with team and provide coaching and mentoring to build functional expertise and strategic capabilities, with a solutions-focused approach through continuous feedback and development plans
  • Foster a collaborative, open culture and inspire and motivate teams for success
  • Architect and drive transformational change and continuous improvement to align Talent to the business strategy
  • Lead effective Talent Review process with a focus on high potential, high performance, key talent in critical roles, targeted development, equitable promotion pipelines, and succession planning
  • Partner with leadership to create and manage a workforce plan that supports the talent management strategy and future talent needs, including an understanding of key roles, spans and layers, and development and retention for internal mobility and succession planning
  • Support implementation of DEI strategy and partner effectively with the diversity and inclusion councils to drive an equitable, inclusive and positive culture through People practices and alignment with social justice, equity and inclusion platform, externally
  • Develop learning and development platform to support career growth and targeted development plans and align with scale and scope of Leafly business
  • Manage the full employee relations lifecycle and serve as an objective, trusted advisor and partner by providing a broad range of expertise in areas of employee relations, including conducting investigations of potential policy and/or Code of Conduct violations, ensuring high quality case management and documentation, investigating EEO complaints and establishing investigation plans, recommending resolutions and partnering with management and employees in implementing the resolutions
  • Own Total Rewards design and delivery. Develop and implement best practices related to inclusive benefits and compensation programs to ensure we remain competitive as we scale. 


WHAT YOU BRING 

  • 10+ years experience in a technology company growing and managing multiple functions within the HR/People Org (compensation, benefits, L&D, Talent Acquisition, DEI, onboarding, workplace, engagement, etc)
  • 5+ years experience leading the HR function for early stage, high growth, technology companies as a Director or VP
  • Experience designing and leading DEI initiatives with proven results for hiring, promotion, and retention
  • Successfully led the HR function through the early stage complexities of rapid scaling and growth
  • Demonstrated ability to align talent and people initiatives to organizational strategies 
  • Ability to effectively foster change through transition and results and partner closely with leadership and HR colleagues to achieve success
  • Adapts easily to change with the ability to navigate complexity in a broad, integrated way
  • Independent thought leader with ability to influence with impact
  • Proven leadership experience in talent management, talent acquisition and building early talent programs with strengths in strategic execution, change management, continuous improvement and culture building 
  • Results orientation and ability to problem-solve issues 
  • Adept at managing multiple competing projects, often in ambiguous and agile situations
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and exert influence with impact and drive decisions
  • Attitude for building trusting relationships and creating a harmonious work environment
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
