Director, Operations

We're looking for a Director, Trust & Safety to join Team Snapchat! As the global leader of our Trust & Safety team, and key leader in our Platform Integrity organization, you are a seasoned Operational leader who will lead a large-scale operations team. You’ll also be instrumental in shaping our future strategy to ensure the platform remains a positive place by combating online harms including illegal activity, violence, bullying, extremism, and hate speech. You’ll serve as an executive leader working cross-functionally with our Engineering, Product, Policy, and other teams to develop and execute strategies that drive the safety of our platform. You will need to bring data consistency and quality to global practices, while being able to adjust quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You’ll use your excellent communication skills, your hands-on management style and your get-it-done attitude to lead a world class org in close sync with Product and Engineering.


What you’ll do:

  • Continue developing the strategic vision for our global Trust & Safety organization
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of a large-scale operations team, driving operational rigor while maintaining a strong focus on team members’ wellness
  • Work closely with the Trust & Safety team and vendors around the world to ensure that our operational policies and processes are being applied consistently and supported by strong reporting and analytics 
  • Define and drive cross-functional high impact safety initiatives and outcomes, collaborating with many teams across Snap, including Engineering, Product, Policy, Legal and other Platform Integrity teams
  • Ensure that policies and processes are applied consistently and thoughtfully as the Trust & Safety organization and our products continue to grow
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, Platform Integrity, Legal and Public Policy, Communications, Product, Engineering, in developing, improving, executing and explaining our safety policies and practices
  • Optimize and scale the team by applying scaled workforce management principles, training practices, analytics, process improvement and process development
  • Develop and track key operational metrics to measure organizational success and engage in ongoing capacity planning 
  • Work with internal stakeholders to make sure Trust & Safety priorities are communicated clearly and backed up by strong data 
  • Manage, mentor, and continue to build a team of great people in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environment


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of safety issues on Internet and social media platforms
  • Proven track record of scaling operations in a fast-paced, dynamic and global environment
  • A detail-oriented individual with executive maturity, business acumen, and the ability to influence and communicate within all levels of the organization
  • A team player who’s willing to get their hands dirty and help where needed
  • Comfortable working within a content moderation environment on complex abuse topics such as sexualized content, hate speech, harassment, terrorism etc.
  • Excellent leadership skills to motivate, develop and retain talent
  • Strong analytical skills, including working with large data sets to identify and solve business problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with a broad range of cross-functional teams and senior leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding judgment and ability to problem-solve, both independently and with peers


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of experience leading global operations in technology companies
  • 4+ years of experience managing Trust & Safety or related work in a multi vendor environment
  • 8+ years of experience in people management


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous leadership roles in Trust & Safety, content moderation, or related field
  • Ability to lead change at scale
