Director of Production

Egg Harbor, NJ

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Director of Production (DP) is a key leadership role for managing and driving the day-to-day production activities of the Egg Harbor facility, enabling the achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance objectives based on a linked-to-budget monthly production plan (w/management oversight and approval). Proven leadership skills with demonstrated operational knowledge and expertise to commercialize the business via strategic decision making, sound judgment and people management skills. Key areas of responsibility include demand planning, production scheduling, processing, supply chain planning, budget management, quality control and enabling the efficient distribution of medical marijuana products on behalf of NJ CCF. 

 

General Operations and Duties

  • Executes business strategy approved by the General Manager and Senior Vice President. Promotes and executes a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manages all facets of production, supply chain management and reporting including but not limited to: production output, labor output, inventory levels and usage, finished goods and production KPIs (analyzed to help drive continuous improvement).
  • Supervises cost controls and manages expenditures based on the approved operating budget.
  • Maintains awareness of current regulations – per CRC - and regarding workplace safety (i.e. OSHA). Works with Human Resources to ensure compliance in terms of any potential workplace injury reporting.


Production Operations

  • Responsible for the overall management, coordination, integration and execution of all production functions reflecting compliance with regs, SOPs and tracked / monitored via relevant KPIs. Committed to improving processes for each function via regular SOP updates.
  • Ensures the company’s ability to produce, prepare and package the highest quality medical and adult-use marijuana products for retail and wholesale sales - effectively, efficiently and in compliance with CRC policies and procedures.
  • Supervises short and long term production planning (informed by retail and wholesale sales’ trends and feedback)
  • Works closely with the Production management team to prepare production forecasts designed to minimally achieve/ideally exceed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue budgets. Material planning includes materials, equipment, and any additional resources.


Packaging Operations

  • Responsible for the overall management, coordination and execution of Processing, Packaging and Quality control. 
  • Ensures that the company provides safe, reliable products to dispensaries and for wholesale.
  • Executes and tracks metrics to drive and achieve packaging efficiencies.
  • Tracks and analyzes weekly reports to ensure consistent quality and quantities for packaging.
  • Leads development of best-practices and key metrics for QC and efficiency.


RD & Quality Control

  • Establishes ongoing testing protocols and standards, working closely with the Operations management team
  • Supervises the selection and development of genetics for the highest quality medicine with optimal yield and proprietary strains’ creation.


Inventory Management and Distribution

  • Ensures proper inventory controls are being followed.
  • Partners with the Management team to develop and manage forecasts for long-term supply planning.
  • Oversees implementation and use of inventory controls including use of Biotrack.


Production Facilities

  • Ensures that all production resources are well-maintained, well-organized, inventoried and reordered promptly.
  • Responsible for the procurement of plants, materials, equipment (up to a defined, preset $ level by the General Manager) and other resources.
  • Develops and in collaboration with Facilities and Maintenance ensures a regularly scheduled equipment maintenance program
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures


Basic Qualifications:

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and or/ equivalent experience.
  • Progressively responsible experience including a minimum of 8 years operational knowledge and expertise with financial goal setting and achievement, supply chain management or manufacturing, including strategic planning and forecasting, development, validation and execution of SOPs, executing compliant quality controls and lab testing, etc. 
  • 4 years' experience within the cannabis/hemp industry is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for mobilizing and motivating a diverse team
  • Strong financial acumen and budgeting skills
  • Knowledge of federal, state, local laws and regs, which govern the cannabis industry in New Jersey is required.
  • Must be highly motivated and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines to deliver quality business results, while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of direction provided, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with absolute reliability and honesty.
  • Proficient with MS Office software (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc). Ability to effectively present information and effectively respond to questions or concerns from managers, dispensaries, the General Manager or Senior Vice President.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and develop solutions.
  • Must be able to pass the state’s background check.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to spend an extended time standing, sitting, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for a distance of 100 feet, and 50+ pounds with a team lift.
  • Close visual focus required.
  • Repetitive motions and understanding of and ability to use equipment.
  • This position requires the extended and repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects.
