Director of Finance

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director will serve as a key financial advisor to senior management and provide day-to-day leadership for corporate treasury activities to achieve the organization’s risk management, funding, investment, cash management and operational goals.


The Director will leverage his/her broad understanding of all aspects of the treasury function, as well as demonstrated strength in leadership, communication, change management, business analysis and judgment to lead the transformation of Company’s global treasury organization, identifying best practices and designing a structure that promotes and optimizes value.


Working collaboratively with business and finance leaders, the Director will identify and implement best-in-class tools and technologies, enhance reporting, and ensure effective internal controls. This role will also be responsible for managing process improvement efforts and lead other functional and management initiatives while meeting key objectives and deadlines.


This role requires an experienced, collaborative finance professional with strong leadership and people management skills. This executive must be able to think strategically, create and communicate a clear and compelling vision of the treasury organization, including goals and metrics to drive development and support growth, as well as ensure efficient and effective day-to-day operations.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design the optimal banking structure to promote greatest value creation for the company, focusing on greatest opportunities, driving reduction in cost-to-serve and minimizing idle cash.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Company’s treasury processes, to identify and expand best practices and drive implementation of process improvements.
  • Partner with business and finance leaders to standardize and streamline global processes, improve operational efficiencies, and ensure effective internal controls.
  •  Identify and implement treasury related automation tools (daily cash processes, bank management, payment processing, fraud detection, fee analysis, cash sweeps, etc.).
  •  Establish and implement treasury KPIs & define entitlement, including the areas of risk management, investing, funding, FX, cash management, and operations.
  • Define reporting needs and deliver related improvements, including creating system-generated reports and dashboards, and ensure management reporting is provided in an accurate, clear, timely manner.
  • Standardize daily cash forecasting & positioning processes used for liquidity purposes.
  • Partner with business and finance leaders to determine needs for foreign currency forecasting and exposure collection and develop processes to address needs.
  • Establish targets for locally held cash balances, improve global cash flow forecasting and intercompany funding processes.
  • Leverage banks and consulting relationships to understand emerging trends and determine which concepts, approaches and methods would add the greatest value to Company in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure the effectiveness and adequacy of policies, procedures, and controls for the company and creating new and improved mechanisms, policies, and procedures when necessary. 
  • Exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified and to assist with various ad hoc projects as needed.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Demonstrated record of success within a large, multi-national corporation. Public company experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success driving change to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the treasury function.
  • Results orientation with the ability to deliver outstanding results in a complex operating environment. 
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior level leaders across organizational lines.
  • Effective communication skills, able to distill complex topics for all levels.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage external relationships (banks, rating agencies, auditors).
  • Self-motivated with exceptional work ethic.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills which will allow ready establishment of credibility and acceptance by the leadership team and peers.
  • Demonstrates the highest professional standards and business integrity.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in finance, accounting or a related field required
  • MBA and/or CFA highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of corporate treasury experience in progressively larger leadership roles.
  • Retail industry experience with consumer goods company highly valued.
  • Experience negotiating debt agreements and strong understanding of bank and lender markets.
  • Financial planning and analysis or adjacent field of finance, investment banking, consulting, business intelligence or accounting.
  • Microsoft Office Suite required, Oracle, PeopleSoft and/or Hyperion Planning experience preferred.
