The cyber world is highly dynamic and fast paced. At Nike we heavily rely on the Cyber Incident Response team to make sure malicious cyber activities are identified, contained and remediated. very Nike laptop, phone, server, network, website. At every location. Globally. This is where cyber is as real as it gets.


You are looking for a challenging environment in which you can coach and learn at the same time? To further strengthen our already awesome team, we are looking for an experienced Director of Cyber Defense & Incident Response. The person in this role is providing day to day leadership to a global team of cyber analyst and cyber incident responders. Whoever take this role on understands that cyber events can be stressful. However, leveraging personal -, as well as the skills in the team, this individual sees them as a great moment to shine. The people we want to talk to have proven to know how manage cyber defense and response goals and aren’t rattled about the high stakes.


What will you work on:

If this is you, you’ll ensure cyber events are analyzed, triaged and dealt with in an appropriate matter. You’ll be responsible for making sure we have the right team members, that they have the right tools, follow logical and formalized processes, are educated and trained and ready and able to handle any cyber situation. You’ll work with the team on the actual events and help overcome speedbumps and roadblocks. You’re the one that, when the situation requires, provides scheduled updates on situation and plans to executive stakeholders. But it’s not all about reaction. You also will responsible for thinking strategically. What do we need, what can we divest of? What is our goal and how do we get there? Your days can be dynamic. One moment you’ll be discussing an update to our analytics platform, the next you might be handling a situation on the other side of the world. No need to be concerned about being bored.


Who will you work with

This role reports to the Deputy Information Security Officer and is a part of our Global Cyber Operations organization within Corporate Information Security. You will have team members all over the world. You’ll be interacting with a wide group of disciplines across the company. Some are within Corporate Information Security, but many are outside. Cyber Intelligence, Cyber Threat Analytics, Governance, Risk and Compliance, Legal / Privacy, Corporate Communications, Government Affairs etc.

 

What you bring to nike

We would like to see a minimum of six years in a number of cyber intelligence/defense/response subject matter roles. And in addition to that, at least three of years of actual incident response leadership experience; preferably within a professional services firm or large enterprise environment.


  • Detailed understanding on how to leverage standards like MITRE in the develop and implementation of incident response processes, standards and policies, to include the measurement of their effectiveness.
  • Deep security relevant understanding of relevant cyber aspects in network, desktop, server, application/database and cloud technologies, including experience with intrusion, detection and containment tools and/or methods.
  • Understanding of malware analysis, virus exploitation and mitigation techniques.


But also:

  • Strong people leadership. You know how to build, motivate and inspire a diverse and global team and help them grow to their potential. 
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills required. You are able to communicate cyber details in a clear, business relevant manner. 
  • Very comfortable with interfacing (in person, phone / video) with other internal or external organizations regarding cyber security and incident response situations.
  • Comfortable working in highly ambiguous situations and quickly adapting approaches to changing events
  • Your ethics and ability to manage sensitive material are unquestionable.
  • Experience with strategic planning and management including budget, organization, personnel decisions
  • Work/life balance is as important to you as it is to us. However, the occasional ad-hoc change of evening or weekend plans you see as a collective opportunity to excel.
  • Are generally optimistic and have a can-do attitude.
  • Additional skills and qualifications preferred, but not required.
  • Certified Information Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Global Information Assurance Certifications (GIAC)

 

Education

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
