Director of Corporate Finance

Corporate Finance sits at the center of the broader finance team to help the VP Financial Planning, CFO, Coursera’s leadership and board gain financial visibility and insights on the business. This team runs Coursera’s financial processes, including our Annual Planning process, monthly forecasts, management packages and board presentations. Corporate Finance sets the parameters and forecast processes for the finance team, supports any Investor Relations needs to help tell our story through numbers, and partners with other key operational teams on the moving pieces that impact our financial outlook (tax, accounting, treasury, facilities, intl). You will work with partners across finance and the leadership team.


Reporting to VP of Financial Planning, the Director of Corporate Finance will work with leadership cross-functionally on creating annual operating plans, establishing reliable projections, defining and measuring meaningful key metrics and supporting financial review meetings and other ad hoc projects


Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop, and improve key financial processes, including forecasting, budget planning, performance reporting, and long-range planning. 
  • Drives the financial analytics by analyzing trends within the businesses, building models to contemplate scenarios around related business and financial drivers, translating financial impact to strategy and execution plan needed
  • Collaborate closely with finance and with data insights teams to manage and drive company key financial and investor metrics. Develop metrics to track team-specific and company-wide trends, identify opportunities, provide recommendations, and collaborate across all levels
  • Apply an analytical approach to influence strategic decision-making, with a focus on capital allocation decisions and long-term financial planning
  • Provide financial reporting, analysis and commentary to important partners including Coursera’s board, management team and investors.
  • Manage and continue to grow a team directing them to coordinate and drive the monthly and quarterly total company forecasting
  • Support ad hoc projects and help define systems improvements to support Coursera’s growth.
  • Partner with FPA, Accounting and other teams to lead continuous improvement initiatives for key financial systems, infrastructure and reports


Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in an analytical field, such as investment banking, corporate and strategic finance, financial planning and forecasting, with a preference for experience in consumer internet, subscription and high growth businesses with Enterprise sales model
  • 5+ years people management experience
  • Excellent proficiency in building and understanding financial statements, accounting and corporate finance concepts. Work seamlessly with MS Excel and Google Sheets
  • Experience leading complex workstreams and cross functional efforts such as managing a yearly planning process
  • Familiarity with financial planning processes and business systems such as IBM Analytics
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.  Influential communicator of strategy and financial insights


Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or other relevant field
  • Experience with both private and public companies
  • Experienced user of IBM analytics is preferable
  • Experience with global and complex operations in a fast growing environment 
  • Proven experience with finance transformation and or process re-engineering and improvement

Compensation

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $139,000 and $303,000 for all US candidates. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
