Director of Business Technology

HubSpot’s Business Technology (BizTech) team is passionate about helping the business be ready for ever greater scale, before it’s needed. From the time of our IPO in 2014 through the end of 2020, revenue will have grown by more than 8X. When you’re growing that quickly the only constant is change and a new set of scaling challenges. 


BizTech creates and manages solutions that keep our ~4,000 employees productive wherever they are; power the way we work together; make our business safe and secure; and power the operations of HubSpot’s G&A functions. Our team has grown fast over the past few years to 70+ today. And our need for empathetic, adaptable, and remarkable leaders has grown as well.


Now, we’re looking to add a senior leader to our team who can scale our Collaboration function. This is the team we all depend on to provide seamless capabilities for how we meet, how we communicate, how we run internal and external events, how we use our physical office spaces to foster collaboration, and much more. The responsibilities of this role will likely evolve over time and we’re looking for somebody excited by that.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Partner with leaders across HubSpot’s business, from Product to Culture to Sales to Facilities
  • Synthesize what you learn into an evolving vision for how our employees ought to collaborate
  • Develop a big picture perspective on the employee experience around collaboration and how it’s impacted by various factors: culture, tools, etc
  • Maintain an operating system that helps translate vision and company goals into objectives that give the team clarity and autonomy
  • Guide the team as it gets good at managing with data
  • Measure the quality of the solutions we provide for the business
  • Empower the team to succeed by:
  • Overcommunicating our mission and vision
  • Overcommunicating expectations and what success looks like
  • Coaching and developing our people
  • Framing problems in the right light
  • Cultivating a psychologically safe and inclusive team culture
  • Partner with the Business Technology leadership team to steer our work and maximize our impact on HubSpot


We’re looking for people who have:

  • Strong, demonstrable experience leading teams that help businesses scale from the inside out
  • Track records of delivering real, measurable value consistently over time
  • Deep and broad subject matter expertise across various facets of IT / Business Technology / SaaS Management / Data & Analytics. In particular:
  • Experience operating at the leading edge of technology and harnessing new technologies for tangible benefits
  • Experience with large scale data & analytics operations
  • Excelled at maintaining strategic business partnerships with peers and executive stakeholders
  • Coached their team members to heights they didn’t know they could achieve
  • A deep understanding of how to balance speed, quality, responsibility, and accountability in a way that strengthens team culture and autonomy
  • Confidence delivering clear, direct and actionable feedback and won’t shy away from confronting difficult situations or increasing communication when there’s friction or uncertainty
  • And, a high level of comfort receiving direct and actionable feedback
  • Already invested in their own development to become an inclusive leader and team member
