Director of Accounting and Finance

Rocky Hill, CT

Verano is experiencing exponential growth, and we are looking to add to our Finance team. The Director of Finance is responsible for oversight of all revenue and cost functions, FP&A support, and capital outlay for the North region. The position will execute monthly financial close and coordinate cross-functional business activities for the region, while rolling up into the nationwide/corporate finance function.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the production of financial operations reports, ensuring that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Deploy nationally consistent policies and operational practices, working closely with internal and external partner teams, while providing fiscal oversight in the entire process.
  • Create, manage, monitor and deliver key performance indicators and recommendations for the region.
  • Review financial results and analyze profit and loss on an entity, state, and regional basis.
  • Lead multi-entity general ledger closes monthly and balance sheet reconciliations by set deadlines.
  • Focus on completeness and accuracy of corporate financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and internal policies.
  • Work closely with FP&A, including cash flow forecasting with a focus on capital projects.
  • Develop and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures for recording accounting standards.
  • Build partnerships with key business partners to create transparency and drive operational excellence.
  • Advise and influence business partners to identify lowest cost, highest growth opportunities highlighted by financial analysis.
  • Understand and partner with the operations for the region.
  • Creatively and continuously search for opportunities for operational efficiency and simplification.
  • Effectively optimize our process and move from an existing as-is manual process to a more streamlined systemic process leveraging SAP.
  • Assist with legacy general ledger system transition to SAP
  • Prepare internal reports analysis and other variances throughout the month as required


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in accounting or finance required
  • 8-10 years of management related experience in financial operations required
  • Management experience required
  • Microsoft Office, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel (advanced), experience required
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules and regulations required
  • Strong ability to influence appropriate operational counterparts to timely closeout duties
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass a state and federal criminal background check


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA designation is a plus
  • Direct experience in CPG or manufacturing (inventory experience) is a plus
  • SAP platform experience is a plus
