Director, Indirect Procurement

As the Director, Indirect Procurement, you will report directly to the CFO and will lead the global indirect procurement function across the enterprise. In this deadline driven role, you have the unique opportunity to strategically define and tactically scale and sustain a global indirect procurement function. The Director, Indirect Procurement, will lead the procurement of indirect categories, and refine and implement best practices and process improvements. You will be the strategic partner for cross-functional leadership in helping guide short-term and long-term spend and purchasing strategy. The ideal candidate is energetic, collaborative, and forward-thinking. 


This position is based out of Remote US. 


What you’ll be doing: 

  • Lead indirect procurement strategy and team to reduce costs, mitigate risks and improve spend compliance. Value stream map procurement process to identify and remedy pain points and waste areas   
  • Design, develop, and lead end-to-end indirect procurement purchasing roadmaps and oversee the execution of initiatives
  • Accountable for reporting of indirect procurement savings and compliance, overseeing the development, monitoring and analysis of key procurement metrics and spend analytics
  • Guide cross-functional teams at the senior leadership level through short-term and long-term sourcing strategies, and communicate with business partners on an ongoing basis regarding supply needs and challenges
  • Monitor and analyze trends in company spending and make recommendations for future investments while identifying possible savings opportunities
  • Act as escalation point and subject matter expert for internal team and cross-functional stakeholders across the company 
  • Update and maintain company-wide purchasing policies and procedures
  • Optimize controls and processes for day-to-day purchasing activities, including standardizing procure-to-pay (“P2P”) processes, through the management of a team responsible for the process of vendor qualification, RFPs, contract negotiations, supplier relationship management, escalations, KPI management, supplier performance and contract compliance
  • Support Finance Shared Services team in guiding cross-functional partners in error-free PO execution and expense control, supporting the month-end/year-end close process as required
  • Drive improvement across Company’s indirect category spend in terms of service levels and cost-savings
  • Develop sourcing strategies to ensure business continuity and contingency planning (such as second sourcing) Analyze and negotiate annual multi-million-dollar contracts with vendors in order to secure optimal value
  • Manage, develop and coach your team, fostering a learning environment to grow their capabilities with an emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and accountability
  • Act as a player and coach, digging in and helping your team reach their end results, while developing your team to operate at peak performance 


You’ll need to have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree and/or procurement qualifications preferred 10+ years of procurement experience
  • Experience with SAP and P2P software to transform and automate the P2P function is an asset
  • Experienced procurement leader who has overseen over $150 million procurement annual spend
  • Expert in contract negotiation, cost optimization, procurement, RFI development, RFQ development, RFP development, buyer management and vendor management
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, capable of quickly building trusting relationships, collaborating effectively cross-functionally, and influencing and guiding stakeholders in decisioning
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to convey information appropriately to a variety of audiences
  • A “roll up sleeves” mentality, seeks to go beyond comfort to learn and pushes teams to do the same. Empowers others to learn and grow with an experimental attitude to drive innovation.
  • Eager to proactively identify, develop, and implement process improvements to achieve efficiencies and scalability Swiftly assess risks, analyze complex situations and determine next course of action
