Director, Global Staffing

As a key member of the Human Resources team, the Director, Global Staffing serves as a key partner in advancing and meeting Harvard Business Publishing’s global talent needs, driving the talent acquisition function across the enterprise and geographies where Harvard Business Publishing (HBP) conducts its business. Responsible for developing and executing HBP’s Diversity, Inclusion, & Belonging strategy. Accountable for the full lifecycle of recruitment processes and for assuring that those processes and hiring activities are compliant with all applicable laws. Collects and presents talent acquisition metrics as needed; supports weekly, quarterly, and annual business and talent acquisition reporting as required. The Director, Global Staffing maintains consultative partnerships with senior leadership and colleagues within the organization, as well as develops and maintains relationships with external recruiting partners, ensuring that Harvard Business Publishing hires the best possible talent.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the talent acquisition function for all FTE and contract staff, domestic and international
  • Manage, coach, and develop Recruiting team, setting performance objectives and work standards. Measuring the team against these standards, as well as Harvard Business Publishing Individual Competencies
  • Directly manage a small requisition load, as necessary
  • Lead recruitment function through WorkDay implementation
  • Establish strong relationships with hiring managers in order to understand their hiring needs and priorities and partner effectively to recruit top talent
  • Guide and advise hiring managers on recruiting best practices to ensure consistency during the recruiting process and compliance with organizational policies, regulations, and legal guidelines
  • Provide advice and counsel to hiring managers regarding hiring decisions
  • Lead routine and ad hoc recruitment to support organizational goals such as expansions, reorganizations, and restructures
  • Understand Harvard Business Publishing’s key business drivers at the enterprise and business unit level
  • Hire and onboard contract recruiting support as needed
  • Oversee the maintenance and data integrity of recruiting data in applicant tracking system; ensure accuracy and usefulness of system-generated reports
  • Collaborate with Director of Compensation & Benefits and hiring managers to craft competitive compensation packages
  • Conduct all 60-day new employee reviews with hiring managers as part of final stage of onboarding. Meet with and provide regular summary reports of these reviews to Director of Employee Programs
  • Negotiate all contracts for recruiting-related services, including domestic and international recruitment firms, background check firms, LinkedIn, etc. Source and identify new partners as needed, including international


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree required; M.B.A. or master degree in Human Resources or related field ideal
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing a cutting-edge DI&B strategy. Familiarity with OFCCP guidelines, as well as compliance tracking platforms such as America’s Job Exchange, Circa, etc.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in full lifecycle US & global recruitment with advanced/expert knowledge of recruiting processes for a variety of positions and position levels
  • Previous management experience required with a minimum of 3-4 years in a recruiting environment
  • Proven influencing, consulting, negotiation and selling skills
  • Previous experience recruiting for remote employees, including international
  • Functional knowledge of fair employment practices, employee relations, global compensation and benefits
  • Ability to build strong relationships and gain support among stakeholders at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to foster a fun, open, and positive work environment
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking software (Workday ideal) and MS Office applications required
  • Strong customer focus, sense of urgency, business acumen, process management, and decision-making skills
