Director, Employee Health and Safety & Sustainability

Indianapolis, IN

Genesys is looking for a Director of Employee Health and Safety & Sustainability, to champion initiatives that ensure our employees a safe, healthy, and sustainable physical office environment.   Successful candidate is responsible for developing, implementing, and assuring health and safety guidelines and policies in our over 40 office locations worldwide. As part of safety, the role is further responsible for standing up and overseeing our physical office security systems and procedures in our direct leased offices.

 

Sustainability has been elevated at Genesys as we have committed to carbon neutrality by 2030. To meet this goal, Facilities is required to measure and reduce consumption of energy, water and waste as well as champion and promote environmental sustainability throughout our global portfolio. This Director role will be responsible for leading this effort for our global facilities team and partnering with our Sustainability colleagues on process and compliance, analyzing our current global facilities energy, water and waste usage and recommending areas and strategies to enable us to meet our carbon neutrality goals.

 

Ideal candidate shall have the ability to audit places and processes, knowledge of local and regional rules and regulations, develop best practices, create guidelines and processes, train regional team members, communicate effectively and partner with internal supporting departments and external constituents, and manage and monitor systems and processes. 

 

Reporting directly into the Vice President of Real Estate and Facilities, this role will ideally be based in Indianapolis and can be flexible to work from home part time.

 

Responsibilities

Employee Health and Safety / Security

  • Develops and documents health and safety procedures for all office spaces globally.
  • Working with global facilities managers and site leaders, monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Inspects facilities and reviews processes to identify safety, health, and environmental risks and develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections. Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Documents emergency preparedness and business continuity plans as related to environmental health and safety. Works with regional managers to document local health and safety mandates.
  • Working with legal and HR, collaboratively develop health and safety guidelines for access control, health hazard mitigation and remediation, crisis management procedures and testing of emergency systems and measures. Develop training modules and conducts, educates and trains employees on all aspects related to employee health and safety, security and sustainability and well and effectuates change management.
  • Develops a process for corrective actions to address deficiencies identified by internal and external audits and reviews and ensures that incidents are reported and investigated using proper root cause analysis methods
  • Provide regulatory guidance to executive management; review new regulations from various bodies including US, EMEA, APAC and LATAM governing entities to direct both enterprise wide change initiatives and localized requirements
  • Create and manage a behavioral-based global safety awareness and compliance program aimed at promoting good behavioral practices - to create a culture of good health, safety, security and sustainability.
  • Participates in quarterly working group on corporate employee health and safety compliance and prepare quarterly reporting and compliance document.
  • Oversee and manage global electronic security system including badge readers and cards, CCTV, access control systems with full understanding of technology interface to Genesys systems and local premises.
  • Participate in security and compliance audits as required for vendor and client due diligence
  • Executive safety for global travel

 

Environmental Sustainability Champion

  • Champion all areas of corporate sustainability as related to facilities and office environments including energy, waste and water reduction, sustainable facilities procurement, green building cleaning and maintenance, capital improvements aimed to achieve sustainable metrics and healthier buildings
  • Develops reporting, analyzes data, and makes recommendations to modify and improve safety, security and sustainability practices.
  • Lead regional facilities managers to gather and documents energy, waste and water consumption measures and metrics. Help to develop processes, systems and capital improvements aimed at reducing waste
  • Develop trainings and lead communication for all facilities related sustainability programs
  • Lead internal sustainability facilities committee and manage and direct global ambassadors to make appropriate and meaningful steps towards increasing sustainability awareness and programs
  • Capture improvements made quarterly for submission to CDP and sustainability reporting.

 

Qualifications

  • Subject matter expert in Employee Health and Safety, Sustainability scoring and measurement systems, and general corporate policies and procedures.
  • ISO certifications related to occupational health and safety standard certification, environmental management and sustainability standards. LEED accreditation a plus.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products including excel, word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent at writing reports, creating illustrative spreadsheets, recommending, developing and using database tools and drafting executive presentations
  • Strong leadership ability, excellent self-control and judgment, and clear communication of directions especially when addressing safety and security breaches and/or crisis situations.
  • Builds relationships and true partnerships with business partners by understanding and empathy
  • Bachelor’s degree ideally with a concentration in Employee Health and Safety and seven (7) plus years of relevant experience required
  • Service-oriented with strong focus on relationship development
  • Detailed oriented with strong planning, organization, and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Mentor and teach facilities and other staff throughout the organization
  • This job requires frequent walking, prolonged sitting at a computer, standing, use of hands and ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Clear vision including close, distant, peripheral and depth perception, as well as generally good hearing acuity are required to perform tasks effectively
