As our Director of Emerging Technologies and Innovation, you will be an imaginative technology leader, guiding the organization in identifying emerging trends, evaluating their potential impact on our products and services, and driving the development of innovative solutions to maintain our competitive edge. You will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of technology innovation and collaboration across the organization.
What you’ll do:
- Analyze long-term trends in technology and assess their applicability to various business units.
- Advise on the use of technologies including but not limited to AI/Machine learning, IoT, blockchain to solve real-life problems.
- Study and transform data science prototypes; research and implement appropriate ML algorithms and tools, perform statistical analysis, use, and extend existing ML libraries and frameworks.
- Assess the potential impact of emerging technologies on the organization, including feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments.
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for technology innovation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
- Collaborate with business units, product teams, and other stakeholders to align technology initiatives with business objectives.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends in technology and industry advancements and identify opportunities for innovation.
- Manage a matrix, diverse team to explore, prototype, and implement innovative solutions that drive business growth.
- Write white papers, implementation plans, and suite of capabilities for the department.
- Effectively communicate the vision and progress of technology innovation initiatives to executive leadership and stakeholders.
You have these skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Deep knowledge of cloud computing, preferably AWS, distributed systems, databases, and solutions architectures.
- Deep knowledge of math, probability, statistics, and algorithms.
- Ability to write robust code in Python, Java, and R.
- Experience working with AI/Machine learning, IoT, blockchain technologies.
And these qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in a technical role.
Extra credit if you have:
- Prior work experience in a senior consulting role or senior management role.
- Prior experience working in shipping or logistics companies.
The annual salary range for this position in California is $157,300 - $228,100. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
