Director, Editorial

Shutterfly is looking for an Editorial Director who will be responsible for overseeing and managing our content strategy across marketing, ecommerce and digital channels for its Shutterfly and Snapfish brands. As a part of the marketing team, the newly created Editorial Director is responsible for creating engaging, informative, and brand-driven content that is aligned with campaign and marketing initiatives. 


The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in content strategy and management, excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to merge brand voice across all pillars of brand messaging. Additionally, this candidate has a track record of creating successful content campaigns, as well as a deep understanding of SEO and how to create content that is optimized for search. This role will report directly our Head of Brand.


What You’ll Do

  • Define and implement a content strategy from ground up across two brands, leveraging past experiences. 
  •  Collaborate across teams to establish a central ‘single source of truth’ content calendar that synchronizes content and messaging across channels with a consistent brand voice. 
  • Ensure branded content supports business goals and drives customer engagement and increased conversion rate
  • Analyze content performance and utilize data to inform future content decisions
  • Maintain a high level of editorial quality and accuracy across all channels
  • Conduct thorough research, fact-checking, and partner with subject experts as needed throughout content creation process 
  • In partnership with others on the Brand Marketing team, develop and implement content calendar
  • Manage a team of copy writers across two iconic brands

  • A mentor and coach was has the ability to inspire and motivate the team, cultivate an inclusive team culture, and resolve conflicts constructively 


About You

  • 8+ years of editing experience at a digital-focused publisher, and 2+ years working within e-commerce or digital marketing industry
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a degree in English, Communications or Journalism
  • A background in copywriting, content production, journalism
  • Experience managing a team of copywriters and editors Experience with SEO best practices and tools and how it relates to content.  
  • Background with home décor brands or lifestyle-focused digital publishers a plus.
