Director, Copy & Editorial

New York, NY

Foot Locker is looking for an entrepreneurial, creative, and resourceful Director of Creative Studio- Copy & Editorial. This position is expected to establish and set the tone for the brand voice, as well as establish a true editorial calendar.  This role will create marketing stories both commercial and non-commercial to enable insight-driven campaigns across all channels that leverage the history and heritage of Foot Locker and all other banners. The marketing stories created will reach, attract and engage clients across the continuum of the client journey.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong creative portfolio working for world class brands and clear understanding of retail editorial and copy needs. They should be able to elevate messaging and storytelling on the brand level, as well as have strong understanding of commercially driven stories and copy.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work cross functionally and collaborate with all key banner stakeholders to shape the seasonal and product stories into an editorial calendar and for setting and articulating the tone of voice of the brand.
  • Provide editorial inputs to drive traffic, adoption and engagement of our brands and products through various digital channels and initiatives that advance competitive differentiation and build brand advocacy
  • Ability to understand and analyze information that is often rapidly changing and translate the business needs to consumer facing messages that drive true storytelling
  • Drive the Omni Channel Editorial Calendar, Copy and Messaging by:
  • Lead team to create best in class work across:
  • Brand campaigns – concepts & copy toolkit
  • Web – homepage graphics, buttons, asp, landing pages, product detail
  • Email – marketing promotions and offers
  • Digital Marketing – paid media assets, yext refresh, SEO copy
  • In Store
  • App – message center, SMS/MMS, app store, push
  • Social media assets
  • Develop and refine the Brand Copy guidelines and principles
  • Ensure message consistency across all retail touch points according to Brand identity
  • Drive financial operation performance with the correct copy and messaging to drive sales and growth
  • Track all briefs and assignments to the internal team as well as partnering with outside agencies and freelancers when necessary
  • Develop and mentor copy team to be world class
  • Partner with Design and Content Director to ensure cohesive messaging in storytelling across major touchpoints
  • Be the true voice of the brand


Qualifications

  • Extensive experience (8-10 yrs) leading copy at an agency or consumer brand
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Highly creative and intuitive about the customer
  • Thought-leadership in the copy space – ability to understand both brand building and commercial copy needs
  • Ability to multitask and highly effective at prioritizing
  • Work in a matrixed and collaborative environment
  • Passion for sneaker culture, sports and entertainment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience managing other team members
  • Creative portfolio a must for consideration

Benefits

The annual base salary range is $123000 - $170000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
