Director, Compensation

St. Louis, MO

The Director, Compensation is responsible for the administration, application and detailed understanding of incentive plans that support the Workforce Solutions Business Unit. The role will require a detailed understanding of incentive plans, data management, reporting and process improvement. You will be expected to communicate at all levels of leadership, supporting Centers of Excellence and the respective business unit requests. You will also be expected to help initiate and build standardized tools, methodologies and business processes aimed at improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.


What you'll do:

  • You will support development, maintenance and modification of current and future incentive plans (sales incentives and production plans)
  • Support tracking and analysis of incentive plans, SPIF programs and incentive compensation exception committee requests
  • Review incentive plans and ensure proper application for incentive plan crediting
  • You will calculate contract quota eligibility and make recommendations for incentive process efficiency
  • Gather and handle incentive discrepancies and project manage to resolution
  • Administration of required data for plan crediting in accordance with monthly processing deadlines
  • Monthly, Quarterly, and annual reconciliation with Compensation Center of Excellence
  • Timely resolution of incentive payment processing inquiries
  • Proactively identify, recommend, and implement valued-added solutions and metrics in a timely manner
  • Self-starter that provides thought leadership around process and metrics that benefit internal partners
  • You will need to have the ability to perform complex analysis using multiple disparate databases with large volumes of information
  • Collect and document business and reporting requirements from multiple sources
  • Prioritize multiple work projects, delivering simultaneous data analysis requests of varying sizes and scope
  • Provide recommendations along with credible data that supports the recommendation
  • Communicate with all levels of management including Senior Leadership


What experience you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; business or related field
  • 8+ years prior experience related to financial and/or revenue analysis, metrics and reporting
  • 5+ years experience in sales compensation design

What could set you apart:

  • Experience with incentive plan support, analysis and administration a plus
  • Proficiency with Google Suite
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and/or other Business Intelligence tools
  • Experience with CRM database software preferred; Salesforce.com
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with team members at various levels, including business leaders
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment; foster close cooperative relationships with peer leaders, sales, service and vertical leaders
  • Experienced in handling changing, fast-paced and challenging job demands
  • Detail oriented, focused on data integrity and accuracy
  • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills using “out of the box” thinking
