What You'll Do

The Direct-to-Consumer Merchandise Planner/Allocator will plan inventory for our retail businesses (both instore and online), manage a monthly open-to-buy process and ensure that goods are properly allocated to support product launches and replenished to capture on-going business. This is a new role that will help accelerate growth in our direct-to-consumer (DTC) channels.

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partner with Merchandising and Marketing teams to ensure that we optimize sales and GMROI (gross margin return on inventory investment)
  • Provide ‘tops down” sales targets by category/channel to merchants/buyers based on the Merchandising Financial Plan
  • In partnership with the merchants/buyers, lead seasonal Buy Reviews that articulate the investment strategy for each classification
  • Create weekly sales plans to measure performance, reviewing any deviations with category buyer and initiating discussions about excess inventory, when needed
  • Work with the Retail Operations team to define maximum articles per store location and optimal inventory levels per SKU (including min/max guidelines per product class)
  • Lead a monthly open-to-buy (OTB) review with cross-functional partners, owning follow up actions (like re-orders, cancellations, contract adjustments, etc.)
  • In collaboration with the Global Planning Team, forecast future sales monthly at the item, class and channel level; update DTC demand as an input into the Aggregated Demand Plan for the company
  • Call-off units for each store location and website, per product launch schedule and marketing plan; replenish units or return to warehouse as needed
  • Consolidate inventory between DTC locations weekly or as needed; balance between all channels following monthly S&OP meeting
  • Deliver weekly, monthly and ad hoc Inventory Risk reports

 

What We're Looking For

This role requires a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field plus 1-2 years of cumulative work experience. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. This is an entry-level position and is a great way to learn the sporting goods and/or athletic apparel businesses.

 

Other qualifications include:

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of handling multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills; detail-oriented and able to make data-driven recommendations
  • Strong cross functional collaborator, innovative problem solver and able to work well under pressure
  • Passionate about delivering an exceptional consumer experience
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong computer proficiency in MS Office Suite
