Digital Merchandiser

Seattle, WA

The Digital Merchandiser is responsible for monitoring and optimizing the digital customer shopping experience across REI.com, REI’s mobile web and our app resulting in conversion and demand. This role will focus on a specific activity, program or strategy and will partner closely with cross-functional teams within the Co-op such as merchants, marketing and product managers. 


The Digital Merchandiser is customer obsessed and will use data driven insights to drive decisions both within immediate scope as well as with relevant partners. 


They will work within the broader Digital Merchandising and Site Marketing organization to coordinate content, features and boosting strategies with the goal of meeting business objectives through differentiating REI’s specialty shopping experience for our customer.   

  

This role has clear KPI’s and will be responsible for driving digital engagement and achieving business goals through well researched and collaborative planning, in-depth analysis of customer shopping behavior, and execution of product page optimization tactics and and content features that create a best-in-class digital shopping experience. 


You will identify merchandising opportunities to support activity, category and product initiatives using digital analytics from various sources. The ideal candidate is innovative, naturally questions the status quo and enjoys tirelessly advocating for our customers in pursuit of enabling a life outdoors.  


Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Apply knowledge of key eCommerce and merchandising business principles to develop digital support plans to achieve conversion, margin and demand goals. 
  • Learn new tools as they become available, develop strategies for use and build and execute plans to use tools to support business needs. 
  • Partner with Merchandising teams to understand seasonal product strategies and/or program teams to understand annual program strategies. Define, communicate and execute digital plans using data to iterate and optimize as needed. 
  • Ensure product is merchandised and boosted/unboosted according to business objectives 
  • Drive product page conversion through influencing reviews strategies, ensuring all available content, video and assets are utilized 
  • Monitor and report on extended online assortment opportunities for existing style expansion (color and size) as well as new brand and product opportunities using data 
  • Serve as a key partner to various product managers to optimize internal search and left navigation filters. Ensure product has correct attributes to support navigation and filter requirements. Make recommendations for new refinements by brand/category as needed. Regularly review internal search terms and adjust results as needed 
  • Perform Daily/Weekly site and category and product page audits - ensuring correct category merchandising, product page imagery and title standards, pricing, filter attributes, promo exclusions, etc are upheld 
  • Utilize weekly digital data to identify conversion opportunities for low converting high priority products 
  • Prepare for and contribute to cross-functional collaboration and analysis - pull together merchandising recaps, conduct analysis for weekly business reviews and summarize key takeaways and recommendations 
  • Synthesize both internal (i.e. KPI and performance driven) and external (i.e. competitive trends and benchmarks) insights to highlight risks and opportunities for priority brands/categories 
  • Coordinate collaboration across teams including Search and Navigaton product management, SEO, and Marketing to support marketing strategies and site experience plans 
  • Develop and distribute standard weekly and monthly performance recaps on merchandising actions, including collection, banner, and product page optimizations 
  • Daily site maintenance as needed, including management of collections, banners, page assets, QA of live site assets 

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in a digital retail environment, omnichannel preferred 
  • Solid understanding of web metrics, testing methodology and conversion driving strategies. 
  • Experience with web-based analytical tools such as: Adobe Workspace, Sigma or similar solution, Tableau 
  • Experience working with Search, Navigation and Content Management preferred 
  • Previous experience in the outdoor gear marketplace and ability to capitalize on market trends preferred. 
  • Proven capability of developing, communicating and executing strategic plans 
  • Aptitude with learning new tools, developing strategies for use and building and executing plans to use tools to support business needs. 
  • Proven ability to successfully handle multiple tasks and prioritize work 
  • Uses business knowledge, critical thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities. 
  • Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound decisions.

Pay Range

$83,700.00 - $134,000.00 per year
