Digital Communications Specialist

As the Internal Digital Communications Specialist, you will use your experience making content for digital platforms (like websites and social media) to create meaningful news stories for and about our Morningstar colleagues. You’ll post to our intranet, creating both multipart comm plans and standalone news items, all supporting our intranet strategy and overall communication goals. This position is based out of our Chicago office and hybrid attendance is required.


What you’ll do:

  • Write and edit individual and multipart (sometimes multimedia) stories that are easy to read and actionable for any employee who sees it.
  • Manage the backend of our intranet, keeping content up-to-date, relevant and easy to access.
  • Use measurement tools to optimize individual posts and our broader strategy.
  • Analyze site metrics to create reports and provide insights on audience engagement.
  • Collaborate with teams across the company to make sure communications advance broader organizational objectives.
  • Manage and enhance collaboration tools to facilitate effective communication and collaboration among employees.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for digital communication within the organization.


What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.
  • 1-3 years’ experience, or recent graduates with relevant internships or part-time experience.
  • Great writing, editing and speaking skills.
  • Experience in UX writing, news writing or content marketing.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and keep work moving forward.
  • Ability to work independently, make suggestions and solve problems.
  • We’d love to see: Brief writing, comm plan writing or internal communications experience. Understanding of the financial markets, or a business minor, is also a plus.
