We are seeking a leader to join Nike’s Global Technology organization as a Director of User Experience Design to help us drive digital transformation of Nike’s demand and supply management capabilities. This individual will lead all aspects of User Experience, User Interfaces and Visual Design for demand forecasting, inventory forecasting and pricing. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in designing and building end to end technology solutions. This role would report directly to Vice President of Demand Supply Management (DSM) within global technology


As part of DSM, you will help drive next generation analytics-driven, technology solutions and platforms that will bring Nike's visionary designs to consumers in an ever-changing global marketplace through machine learning and advanced analytics. You will join a fast-paced, dynamic team of UX/UI designers, product managers, planners, engineers, and data scientists. Your role will be to develop a cohesive strategy, grow the team, scale our design thinking and UX processes and improve usability of our products, and influence roadmap decisions. Your strategies will shape and define the foundation for User Experience in DSM and help make UX design a core pillar within our organization.


As a natural leader, you will have the desire and commitment to mentor and support the team you are managing and building. You’ll inform and inspire teams by collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure decisions for product roadmap are made with educated information. You will oversee planning and execution of end-end UX design. You will partner and collaborate with design leaders across Nike to bring in best practices to build delightful products. Experience in retail, supply chain operations, financial or demand planning will enable you to bring your insights and industry experience to help the team understand the challenges and opportunities in store.


Responsibilities:

  • Own the User Experience vision and philosophy for DSM technology
  • Manage all aspects of UX, UI and Visual Design development and execution
  • Advocate and drive user-centered design process
  • Oversee design efforts for projects, assign work to team and approve for Creative Review
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, business and other stakeholders across the organization to elevate UX and make it our competitive advantage
  • Work with Product Management to understand how users are using the product and continually find opportunities to further improve and optimize user experience
  • Build, mentor and inspire team of UX/UI designers by providing vision and direction
  • Build, evolve and scale UX processes, standards, and tools
  • Lead prioritization of UX features and deliverables by working with cross functional teams
  • Facilitate design thinking workshops, working with multiple stakeholders to drive empathy for the user, and identify ways to address unmet needs and create delight
  • Use data and insights to envision the future of Nike products and experiences
  • Contribute to, maintain, and help evolve DSM and Nike's design system and product design language (UI components and patterns, iconography, assets, etc.)


Skills:

  • Experience leading end-end UX design responsibilities for analytic (AI/ML) driven technology solutions
  • Ability to challenge status quo and design experience with future state thinking
  • Excellent collaboration and relationship management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence others internally and externally
  • Experience working in agile and ambiguous environment
  • Proven experience to effectively partner and collaborate with product management, engineering and business stakeholders
  • Expert-level knowledge of current trends, technology, communications, experience, art and other design influences
  • Passion for innovation and technology with a solid understanding of digital tools, trends, and infrastructure
  • 10+ years agency, in-house or start-up design experience and interactive work
  • Ability to build highly effective team by attracting and retaining top industry talent
  • Experience leading and mentoring multiple designers on large-scale projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, advertising, art direction or a related field
  • Experience with modern design productivity and research tools (Sketch, InVision, XD, Adobe C, Google Analytics, Hotjar, Crazy Egg, etc.)
  • Experience with design-thinking tools, Mural or Miro) preferred
