Design Director

Austin, TX

We’re looking for a product-obsessed, highly creative, and entrepreneurial Design Director to help us build the retail experience of the future. Huckberry is a leader in the retail industry with House Brands accounting for almost 50% of our revenue, and you’ll be responsible for setting the overall brand direction for our house brand portfolio which spans multiple categories.


The Design Director will lead the design process in order to create a best-in-class product assortment that captures market trends and inspires our customer. You’ll lead a team of talented in-house designers, and will be responsible for continuing to drive, innovate, and push our brands forward. This role is based out of our headquarters in Austin, TX; relocation support will be provided to a remote hire.


Responsibilities

  • Drive the brand strategy and direction for our portfolio of in-house brands
  • Oversee the creative concept, seasonal kickoffs, and design process of our current brands, while finding opportunities for brand addition and product innovation
  • Lead key milestone meetings in conjunction with marketing and merchandising
  • Manage and mentor a team of designers across multiple categories and brands
  • Partner closely with the development & production team to ensure design vision is executed while hitting key metrics
  • Ensure that designs meet company standards and obsess over fit and quality
  • Collaborate with merchandising team to create a best-in-class assortment that resonates with our customer with support from data and market trends
  • Partner with brand marketing on key strategic product initiatives including new brands and key product launches
  • Lead the company in market, product, and trend research
  • Work closely with Director of Product Development & Production to ensure all major calendar milestones are met

Requirements
  • 8+ years experience in men’s apparel design,
  • Experience in directing design vision for multiple categories and brands
  • Experience working with both domestic and international vendors
  • Ability to work in a fast pace, collaborative environment
  • Illustrator/Photoshop/ PLM skills required
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
