Design Director

Remote (United States) Austin, TX

This is a remote position reporting to our Executive Creative Director. We are seeking a Design Director to partner with art directors, designers, copywriters, producers, researchers, and product marketers to develop creative on behalf of the Atlassian brand, ensuring consistent visual language and voice through all touch points. You are a strategic thinker with a track record for leading efforts across multiple mediums and surfaces.


You have experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative, semi-structured environment. You will be comfortable guiding teams, agencies and/or production partners, but are also willing to roll up your sleeves to do the work.

Compensation

At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

  • Zone A: $168,100 - $224,100
  • Zone B: $151,300 - $201,700
  • Zone C: $139,500 - $186,000


This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.

What You'll Do

  • Provide creative leadership by leading design teams and creative projects. Guide and direct to deliver the very best strategy and design across events, product marketing and brand.
  • Oversee the strategy and design direction of brand creative
  • Manage development of projects that resonate with a range of audiences while maintaining consistency for the brand
  • Develop original breakthrough design for a variety of marketing touch-points
  • Work cross-functionally, balancing the needs of stakeholders and breaking down complex narratives into simple, compelling ideas
  • Collaborate with product designers, researchers, product managers, product marketers and engineers to serve a global audience
  • Lead both in-house and external teams across milestones such as strategy, creative development, and production.
  • Evaluate design options, providing constructive critique to develop and push to find ‘big ideas’ based on design strategy and creative brief.
  • Evaluate and develop competitive and breakthrough design solutions and plans.


Your Background

  • 10+ years of creative leadership experience at a creative agency and/or an internal client side
  • Experience developing consumer marketing programs in a data-driven, integrated marketing environment
  • Experience building and mentoring design teams
  • Experience in many design disciplines, including product, OOH and events
  • Experience in a similar role within a branding/design agency or in-house tech company leading cross-discipline teams.
  • Technical skills with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat) .
  • Excellent and current creative and design trend knowledge / skillset.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships, internally and externally.
  • A solutions-driven outlook, fueled by curiosity and an innovative mind.
