Delivery & Dispatch Manager

La Mesa, CA

The Delivery & Dispatch Manager is responsible for the oversight of the company’s Dispatch and Delivery operations. The Delivery & Dispatch Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and organizing the activities of Dispatch & Delivery staff, as well as establishing effective working relationships with management, employees, and customers.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible and accountable for the people, service, cost, and quality performance of the departments, driving the best operation performance
  • Oversees central call center and UL delivery locations
  • Manages upwards of 10 staff members and Fleet Supervisors in surrounding stores.
  • Plans Delivery & Dispatch scheduling
  • Create work schedules for all Dispatchers, Fleet Teams and Drivers
  • Provides leadership and direction to the Dispatch and Delivery leadership teams
  • Hires and trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employee’s; addresses complaints and resolves problems
  • Counsels, records, and disciplines as necessary in conjunction with the Director of Human Resources
  • Open communication with store managers to ensure alignment and consistent messaging between delivery and stores
  • Oversees the daily Business and P&L to ensure profitability within each entity
  • Develops employees into leaders to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned crew members
  • Liaises and networks with other parts of the business such as Marketing, HR, and various Managers
  • Provides leadership to delivery and dispatch teams ensuring individuals are engaged, motivated, and committed to operating as a high performing and fully accountable team
  • Leads the operations and administrative management teams in running effective, dynamic, process-driven, and results-oriented depot network, while being the custodian of Urbn Leaf’s integrity as a service-led organization
  • Ensures the Delivery and Dispatch departments offer both internal and external customers and clients the highest level of customer service throughout the distribution process
  • Follows all roles and responsibilities that are assigned and implemented by the Director of Delivery and Distribution
  • Adheres to and enforces the organization’s policies, procedures, and Federal/State applicable laws (BCC Regulations for delivery)
  • Participates in all company manager meetings and relays appropriate information to the team as needed
  • Ensures all driver logs are maintained and filed appropriately on time and as requested by senior management
  • Audits driver mileage
  • Audits and approves timecards (payroll systems like Wurk) for bi-weekly payroll finals
  • Performs monthly self-audits and addresses action items
  • Ensures all company standards and safety policies are being adhered to by all department staff
  • Assists other departments as needed or requested
  • Ensures friendly, efficient, and professional customer service
  • Monitor operational/office supplies daily and report the needs to the necessary team member
  • Ability to commute to multiple UL delivery locations without any restrictions
  • Must possess great customer service skills
  • Ability to problem solve with superior communication
  • Must be highly organized

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Attitudes:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Two years of experience in high-volume retail establishments
  • Knowledge of cannabis operations
  • Previous experience working in a fleet environment
  • Current POS and E-Commerce experience
  • Cash handling experience
  • Experience with navigation programs/applications
  • Microsoft Office experience is a plus
  • Must have intermediate computer skills; able to input and access information in the company delivery and time-keeping systems
  • Must have a hands-on, proactive management style. Must be willing to perform line level or supervisor duties in busy times of need or to support absenteeism
  • Must be motivated with a can-do, team-first attitude. This role requires strong leadership with the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to perform all job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Aptitude for prioritizing and organizing
  • Ability to remain calm and resolve issues while exercising good judgment
  • Leading by example and ensuring the team executes the game plan laid out for them
  • Understands guest service needs
  • Business acumen and the ability to manage a P&L.
  • Works cohesively as a team with co-workers

 

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two or more years relevant experience and/or training

 

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Valid vehicle registration
  • Valid vehicle insurance

  

Physical Demands/Requirements:

The following are constant demands for this position:

  • Must be able to stand/walk for up to 6 hours at a time
  • Must be able to sit for up to 8 hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds safely and properly
  • Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to workdays, nights, holidays and weekends
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment (subject to temperature changes) for 80% of the workday

  • Constantly noisy environment
  • Occasionally poor ventilation
  • Occasionally small and/or enclosed spaces
  • Occasionally driving in adverse weather conditions
