Where You’ll Work:

In your role as a Data Science Intern in Global Data & Analytics, you will use machine learning to deliver insightful and actionable intelligence and predictive solutions to our business partners to improve Healthcare growth in our business. You will learn to develop analytics to enable decision making. 


You will gain experience understanding healthcare and developing data driven solutions to improve care delivery, while working closely with other team members of Data Science team to deliver value to our business partners.


Successful candidates will be offered a full time position to return to following graduation and have targeted growth and development opportunities made available to prime you for future leadership opportunities. To ensure an ongoing high-level of visibility in the organization, you will be assigned ongoing mentorship with Chief of Staff who will help coach and accelerate learning opportunities.

  • Cultivate relationships with matrix teams – supporting them in a shared services analytics capacity

Qualifications:

Education

  • Cumulative GPA 3.5+ preferred
  • Master Degree students pursuing degrees in data science, statistics, applied math, computer science, engineering or other quantitative fields providing sufficient data science foundations


Technical:

  • data science lead analyst is expected to work closely with the data and model development. As such, it is important that they have exposure to writing code (Python, R, SQL and Git), developing models (machine learning, boosting & bagging algorithms, &/or regression techniques), and performing predictive analytics testing and evaluation (match case analysis, ANOVA, confidence intervals, experimental design, A/B testing, etc.).


Communication:

  • They will work closely with other data scientists and IT implementation partners, so it is important to be articulate with findings through visuals, email/verbal communications, and clear/complete documentation. It is important that they develop strong relationships with these business partners by instilling trust through work product, providing thought-through recommendations, and being open to feedback/new ideas

Schedule: You must be available to work a 40-hour work week for 10-12 weeks summer 2022, beginning May 23, 2022. ​


This role can work from home however, geographical preference is for the incumbent to be located in NY/NJ/CT area.


One goal of this internship program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for roles with Cigna post-graduation. Therefore, this temporary internship is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
