Data Governance Analyst l

Lawrence, MA

New Balance’s Data Governance Analyst I position is a vital role in the company’s digitization transformation and will be a leader in global data governance throughout the company. This role supports the global data governance framework – ensuring our data is cared for through its complete lifecycle as an enterprise asset. The Data Governance Analyst partners with the Data Governance Stewards and external stakeholders to optimize the efficiency and quality of the data by ensuring it complies with Global Data Governance policies, standards, structure, strategy, and principles. They ensure the data is effectively utilized as trusted enterprise assets – which leads to understood, controlled and reliable data.  


One of the most critical skills for success in this role is the ability to proactively analyze & communicate data inconsistencies with the Data Governance Stewards and create visibility to gaps and opportunities in the global data governance framework. This position will require a combination of skills, from technical and business acumen to analysis and interpersonal skills. 

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITES:  

  • Partner and support the Data Stewardship community, (including Data Custodians and stakeholders) to ensure that they have the support and knowledge (over time) to adopt the end-to-end Data Quality framework as a fundamental part of the service 
  • Support facilitation of processes for remediating Data Quality issue/request by enabling prioritization of Data Quality Exceptions by impact under the Data Quality Incident Management Standard/SOP 
  • Support facilitation of Data Quality Rules, Policies & Procedures testing in downstream environments, and evaluating data quality expectations via the local process to ensure dimensional based measures support Data Quality Validations in Production 
  • May serve as functional support in technical implementation of agreed upon solutions 
  • Support the data stewards and stakeholders (Product, Owners, etc.) to define data quality measures and monitoring the Data Quality Strategy
  • Work with Data Counsels to adopt usage of the Data Quality Scorecards to understand the health of the process and impact of data quality exceptions' issues 
  • Work with the various Data Counsels to analyze and understand results of data profiling implemented via Data Quality Rules, Policies, and Procedures
  • Support a culture of learning to understand the lifecycle of data, what it represents, how it is created, and how to analyze and use (internal & external) through training 
  • Define and assist with implementing specific data quality requirements and present metrics documenting adherence and improvements to data quality rules 
  • Assist in development and maintenance of business requirements and classifications of data 
  • Enforce and demonstrate strong understanding of data standards and policies 
  • Analyze data that does not align with requirements and recommends corrective actions across business areas 
  • Support resolution for data integration and reconciliation issues 
  • Collaborate with Global Data Counsels team members to support global data management governance, and initiatives
  • Communicate progress and risks with management and peers to provide effective interdepartmental and intradepartmental communications 
  • Support multiple business processes 
  • Responsible for ongoing data cleansing activities as required by the business 
  • Participate in process improvement teams which assist in improving the data used by the company to make important decisions 
  • Develop, maintain, and/or provide input to documentation control related to Global Data Governance

  • Improvement and simplification of processes to facilitate ease of impact on functional teams 
  • Collaborate with the multitude of teams across the company to streamline interdependencies 
  • Build a more data-focused culture and advocates for the proper use of and attention to data 
  • Focus on continued growth and education to enhance personal and technical skills of self 
  • Take responsibility for tasks and handle constructive feedback in a positive and professional manner to learn and apply for the future 


REPORTING STRUCTURE: 

  • Reports directly to the Data Governance Manager 
  • Collaborates and communicates with Data Governance Stewards and Data Governance      Analysts within the Global Data Governance team 
  • Partners and collaborates with functional teams throughout the company ranging from Product Marketing, Product Development, Merchandising, Sales, eCommerce, Finance, and many other functions 


REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS: 

  • Bachelor's degree with 1-3 years’ experience     
  • Experience in data management, data governance, data quality, master data   management, and/or designing and implementing functional systems and data in a structured process preferred 
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with proven ability to establish and cultivate relationships with key partners 
  • Strong relationship management, interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation skills 
  • Developed critical thinking skills and ability to navigate ambiguous situations 
  • Understands and can apply key data stewardship and data governance concepts 


Ability to:

  • Work effectively both independently and in a team environment 
  • Prioritize and manage tasks and projects along with recurring responsibilities and adjust to changing priorities with leadership guidance

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI, and Teams 
  • Data BI tools knowledge a plus (SQL, Analytical/Business Intelligence, Tableau, Tibco, etc.) 
  • Enterprise software knowledge/understanding (PLM, PIM, ERP, B2B, etc.)
