Customer Service Specialist

This role supports Group Life & Disability Underwriters and is responsible for handling cases by following up on requirements and communicating next steps and updates to applicants.

 

This role requires strong communication skills, ability to multitask as well as strong attention to detail. Responsibilities include light data entry, reviewing cases for completeness and ongoing communication with applicants and the underwriting team.

 

An ideal candidate can assess customer needs and fulfill them in a timely manner. Possesses the ability to work in a fact paced environment out of multiple systems while utilizing dual screens. In addition, a customer service associate is expected to work well as a team member, display accountability and be involved in special team projects and testing efforts.


Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with key stakeholders including Underwriters, Associations’ Administrative/Sales Teams, Vendors and Applicants to ensure case can be properly processed.
  • Provide service to Administrators, Applicants and Underwriting team members by responding to inquiries and proactively following up on outstanding requirements to minimize application processing time.
  • Execute and process routine and complex administrative functions, which involve data entry, checking numerous items for completeness and accuracy, and following up by telephone and email for missing information.
  • Prepares and sends out routine reports to various administrative teams


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, with basic understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Team Player, motivated, proactive, positive attitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experienced in successfully handling multiple tasks and high volumes of work under strict time deadlines and pressure.
