Creative Designer

We’re hiring a Creative Designer to join our in-house US Creative team at Tapas’ LA HQ. As a Creative Designer, you’ll be tasked with developing a wide range of graphic design materials for new comic series, novels, marketing initiatives, and social media. You’ll contribute to the timely delivery of weekly assets and support development or larger, long term projects, and department goals. The ideal candidate will have graphic design experience in traditional or digital publishing and will understand the importance of balancing design quality with timely delivery of assets.


Responsibilities:

  • Design logos and marketing launch materials for new comic series and novels
  • Execute regularly on intermediate level creative requests including promotional event materials, new branding initiatives, illustrations, and animated assets
  • Use and maintain department workflow management tools
  • Collaborate with teammates across multiple departments to complete projects and solve workflow concerns
  • Assist in the maintenance of the company’s file sharing and archive system
  • Additional graphic design tasks as assigned


Qualities:

  • Bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Art, or equivalent
  • 4+ years of graphic design experience
  • High proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects)
  • Highly proficient understanding of motion design
  • Proficient understanding of branding practices as they relate to graphic design
  • Proficiency with workforce management tools, such as Basecamp, Google Suite, Slack
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Professional background or personal passion for comics, webcomics, manga, manhwa, and novels a plus
  • The ideal candidate will have graphic design experience in a print, digital, or motion publishing environment. 
  • Possess a keen eye for detail
  • Be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Be able to work and thrive in a collaborative environment and coordinate between multiple project stakeholders
  • Be able to receive constructive feedback on design work and maintain momentum when faced with challenges or disruptions to workflow
  • A background in the comic book industry is ideal, but not required for this position
  • Possess humility and a solution-oriented mindset to help your team get work across the finish line
