Cost Analysis Supervisor

Atlanta, GA

This position demonstrates strong analytical and technical skills to support internal customers with profitability analysis using a variety of data models and tools. This role is a primary liaison with pricing, strategy, sales, and other groups when support is needed for customer profitability studies. This position involves researching large stores of customer and operational data contained in UPS systems to gather key insights into costing and profitability.

This position requires an understanding of activity-based cost modeling and understanding the functions that drive cost as a package moves through the UPS network. This position uses SQL, MS Office products, and internal UPS systems to query, analyze, and summarize findings.


  • Analyzes financial and operational data to synthesize insights driving customer profitability.
  • Uses SQL to query relevant information and analyzes/summarizes data with MS Office products to complete analyses for customers.
  • Supports many types of requests some of which include post profit analysis of highly visible UPS customers, ad hoc costing analyses to support our internal customers with pricing decision making, and creating accurate costing profiles when a customer has volume with Special Operating Plans.
  • Communicates key takeaways to many different audiences including the team’s leadership, and with the internal teams we support.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities by supervising a specialist position.


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Experience working with and manipulating large sets of data.
  • Ability to understand data and its business context.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work with cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Finance Knowledge: Demonstrates an understanding of basic financial terminology and concepts such as cash flows, operating profit/loss, and net income; conducts financial analyses.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or International equivalent
  • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Economics, Finance or Business Administration - Preferred
  • Experience interpreting and writing SQL queries - Preferred
  • UPS operational experience - Preferred
