Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist

Comprised of The Walt Disney Company’s various direct-to-consumer streaming services, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) aligns technology, media distribution and advertising sales into a single business segment to create and deliver personalized entertainment experiences to consumers around the world.


The DMED Corporate Social Responsibility and Communications team is seeking a Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist to join us. This position will play a key role in supporting DMED’s CSR strategy, tied to programming that provides access to technology education, mentoring, and career exploration to middle, high school, and college students from under-represented communities. This includes supporting the execution of new and existing campaigns, programs, and communications that align with our business objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

CSR Program Management

  • Work with the Program Manager to implement a comprehensive strategy tied to the launch and sustainment of tech-related community engagement programming.
  • Collaborate across the business to align with TWDC on priorities and champion CSR goals, objectives, and initiatives tied to community engagement
  • Organize internal volunteer programs and events that drive employee engagement, including provide support for Disney’s tentpole volunteer opportunities
  • Vet charitable organizations and identify opportunities for community engagement that align with Disney’s CSR focus areas and brand impact priorities
  • Provide support and coordination for cause marketing and philanthropic efforts from DMED’s lines of businesses
  • Manage and process all charitable in-kind and cash contributions to fulfill set partnership and sponsorship agreements, including communication with nonprofit partners
  • Conduct comprehensive research into best practices, industry trends, and more to help create a best-in-class CSR and community engagement offering


Communications

  • Assist with creating communications assets and presentation material to share CSR-related news across internal and external communications channels
  • Identify storytelling opportunities for internal/external audiences that enable DMED to share our community engagement programming and wider CSR activations
  • Provide editorial support for a CSR communications strategy that keeps employees informed of the CSR programs that are available to them, including the matching gifts program and VoluntEAR grants and opportunities


Operations

  • Create and maintain a process to keep track of DMED’s community engagement programming
  • Support internal and external CSR reporting initiatives, updates and ongoing management
  • Provide administrative support on special projects, employee events, programs, and other internal communications needs
  • Administration as needed including preparing contracts and NDAs, mailing packages, ordering supplies, tracking budget, etc. for CSR and communications programming


Required Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of professional experience with demonstrated success in corporate social responsibility, environmental/sustainability work, or related roles in a non-profit setting
  • Project management and time management with attention to detail
  • Invested interest in social causes, sustainability, and/or philanthropy
  • Experience in analyzing, reporting, and summarizing data as it pertains to the existing landscape
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including editing and copywriting
  • Ability to take initiative, anticipate issues, and proactively problem solve
  • Quick learner, boundless curiosity, and passion for delivering excellence
  • Superior can-do, no-job-is-beneath-you attitude
  • Demonstrated motivation and discipline to work effectively in a collaborative, high-paced environment
  • Competencies in Microsoft Office and Google suite, including presentation software


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in technology and/or entertainment industry
  • Knowledge of internal communications channels including digital tools (intranets, social media, etc.)
  • Basic visual communications skills
  • Event planning or coordination experience


Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Non-profit Administration, Corporate Social Responsibility, Marketing, or related field
