Corporate Communications Representative

Des Moines, IA

Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

Execute Corporate Communications initiatives such as:


  • Write news releases and employee communications materials     
  • Write and edit employee communications materials
  • Assist with Special Events as needed  


Essential Job Functions

  • 35% - Support Employee and Executive Communications including writing news releases and employee communications materials, key messages, briefing books, and pitches.
  • 15% - Track and record corporate and brand-related accolades and recognition
  • 15% - Monitor and record media clips, and prepare Meredith In the News weekly newsletter
  • 10% - Maintain and update fact sheets and corporate communications materials
  • 15% - Coordinate the Meredith Apprentice Program
  • 5% - Maintain press lists and create new lists as needed
  • 5% - Assist on special events including United Way, Rebuilding Together, Weekend with WOOD, and others as needed.


Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.


Education:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing or related field.


Experience:

1-2 years communications field experience preferred; recent grad with extensive internship experience acceptable.


Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Professional communication skills, a track record of success, ability to perform in time-sensitive situations, and willingness to learn are critical. Excellent writing and editorial skills. Detail oriented, strong organizational and project management abilities. PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Suite, and online tools such as Drupal and Adobe. Self-starter with problem solving skills. Service-oriented and able to work independently. Team player with the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and opinions/preferences.


  • 10 % Travel Required (Approximate)
