Corporate Communications Manager

Molson Coors Beverage Company (MCBC) is executing on an exciting revitalization plan that is helping the company achieve success and set a path for future growth. The Communications team is responsible for sharing this news externally and we are looking for a strong corporate communications manager who can utilize their expertise to help us tell our story.


The role is responsible for raising the Molson Coors profile by implementing an effective media relations strategy that provides communications direction and message delivery on all corporate issues. As the primary corporate spokesperson, the position also needs to foster relationships among key stakeholders, including the news media, industry trade publications, and community partners.


The ideal candidate has a thorough understanding of media relations, as well as crisis communications skills. They can “connect the dots” quickly and effectively to drive external dialog. And they can interact effectively and influentially with senior management especially when a strong point of view must be delivered.


The Responsibilities: 

  • Generate and editorial calendar that includes pitch opportunities for the US and Canada.
  • Develop and execute the news media strategy and tactics against the calendar
  • Draft press materials used to deal effectively with the media, including corporate press releases, standby statements, Q&As, talking points, scripts, bios, and fact sheets. 
  • Participate in the quarterly earnings process by helping develop the press materials, which includes the CEO quote, a media interview plan, and corresponding briefing document.
  • Manage all corporate media relations for the company
  • Serves as the of company's primary spokesperson
  • Lead corporate media interviews, which includes working with leadership and SMEs on a briefing document, key messages, Q&A, as well as hosting a prep session before the interview.
  • Monitor news to flag industry trends and develop necessary messaging for the company.
  • Review and give input on draft press releases prepared by the businesses or by outside parties (e.g., advertising agencies, vendors, third-party organizations/partners, etc.), prior to issuance to ensure proper positioning of news, optimal timing, and accuracy about Molson Coors.
  • Provides strategic counsel on media communication issues to senior management 
  • Regularly brief the Chief Communications Officer on any planned pitches, events or activities that could potentially have a media component. At times, you may also be called upon to brief leaders directly on various media scenarios, activities, or events.
  • Foster relationships with our trade publications. That includes regular check ins, pitching corporate and brand news, finding speakers for conferences, and running point on the execution.
  • Ensure personal credibility and impact through influencing others, leading people, and communicating clearly. This includes managing a team of one media coordinator in Canada.
  • Create and maintain relationships with other Communication functions through partnerships.


The Other Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree required with at least 8-10 years’ experience in a related industry
  • Thorough understanding of media relations, standard media practices, media relationship-building as well as crisis communications skills
  • Prior work experience is preferred as a working reporter and/or experience in corporate, government or public relations agency media relations.
  • Keen business sense and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of linkages of external communications to internal and system communications and other key stakeholder groups.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to manage outside writers, agencies, and related budgets
  • Reporter/analyst mindset with activist/campaigner attitude and thirst for knowledge and information.
  • Able to “connect the dots” quickly and effectively to drive external dialog.
  • Ability to interact effectively and influentially with senior management especially when a strong point of view must be delivered
