Corporate Communications & Community Relations Specialist

The Corporate Communications Specialist role is a unique opportunity for a dynamic business communications and community-focused associate to join New Balance’s corporate Public Relations & Government Affairs Team.  


As we continue our significant growth as a global sports industry leader, New Balance remains strongly committed to the communities where our associates live and work, domestic manufacturing, and our purpose-driven culture. This role will ensure meaningful engagement with our key community relations partners as well as advance corporate communications priorities. 


This role will collaborate closely with New Balance cross-functional teams and agency partners to ensure consistent story-telling and on-brand external representation and activation. This role requires a creative doer with excellent communication skills and a passion for building strong collaborative relationships. This role is based at New Balance headquarters in the Boston area.

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Manage and execute external public relations and community relations activities that positively support New Balance as a purpose-driven industry leader with a unique company culture and long-standing commitment to domestic manufacturing.
  • Clearly articulate NB’s purpose, mission, business results and community impact 
  • Collaborate closely with NB cross-functional teams and PR agencies to develop and execute corporate public relations initiatives. 
  • Work collaboratively with key Boston/U.S. corporate community and non-profit partners including UMass Boston SLA, Sports Museum of New England, Massachusetts Conference for Women, among others to ensure best-in-class company engagement and drive positive awareness.
  • Attend company-sponsored events and meetings to represent NB and build strong relationships with key corporate community partners in New England 
  • Advance opportunities with company’s sustainability goals related to company non-profit partners and the annual Sustainability & Impact Report that summarizes annual efforts and key achievements.
  • Support New Balance corporate initiatives related to executive speaking opportunities and crisis management activities as required.


REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS: 

  • 5-7+ years of relevant experience, with a strong preference for Communications or Public Relations field
  • High professional level of initiative, judgment, and confidentiality; must be able to work both independently and with internal/external teams.
  • Detail and deadline oriented, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including demonstrated writing experience, are essential. 
  • Embodies a growth mindset; self-motivated, accepts new challenges, and continuously capitalizes on opportunities for best practices and improvement.
  • Preference for candidates with interest in New Balance’s sports and wellness industry
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Some regional/U.S. travel required – less than 10%.

Flexible Work Schedule

New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
