Coordinator, Social Media

Secaucus, NJ

Position Summary: The Coordinator, Social Media is responsible for coordinating and executing multiple aspects of promoting the MLB Network and NHL Network at night through various social media outlets, including crafting and posting messages, handling requests from MLB.com and NHL.com, monitoring social media, creating plans, maintaining analytics, assisting with campaigns, and other such duties, 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as main social media contact for MLB Network and NHL Network during weekday evenings.
  • Utilizes ENPS, programming on MLB.com and NHL.com, and other such sources to identify stories for relevance; compose copy, select graphics to accompany stories, and post on MLBN and NHLN social media sites.
  • Works with Marketing Director and other staff on the promotion of MLB Network and NHL Network programming on MLBNetwork.com, NHLNetwork.com and social media sites (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitch, YouTube).
  • Actively communicates with content producers to ensure Marketing has the most up-to-date information needed for promotion.
  • Works with nightly content producers to integrate social media initiatives into MLB Network and NHL Network on-air programming and provide Production support.
  • Interacts effectively with on-air talent to create compelling social media content and fulfill social media requests.
  • Communicates with club and league social media teams as needed.
  • Composes and posts tune in messages to social media outlets (e.g., Facebook & Twitter) on a nightly basis.
  • Ensures that the correct programming determined by management to be promoted appears on the Network’s website, on MLB.com, and/or other assigned social media.
  • Reviews MLB Network and NHL Network programming and selects and requests appropriate highlight clips to be posted on MLB.com and NHL.com.
  • Continuously monitors social media (e.g., Facebook & Twitter) for comments and feedback during shift.
  • Keeps charts/presentations up-to-date.
  • Maintains and effectively applies knowledge of social media trends.
  • Follows up with MLB.com and NHL.com on any requests.
  • Plays an integral role in developing the social media strategy for both MLB Network and NHL Network.
  • Works on daily plans and analytics.
  • Assists in creating proposals for new social media ideas.
  • Leads and assists on social media campaigns related to shows and marquee events.
  • Helps promote other MLB Network and NHL Network initiatives and programming as needed.
  • Assists others in the department as needed.
  • Other such duties as required.

 

Skills & Experience:   The ideal candidate must have most if not all of the following skills and experiences:

  • 1-3 years’ experience in Advertising/Marketing/Promotions.
  • Television, Sports, Social Media, Entertainment, or Communications background helpful.
  • Baseball and hockey knowledge essential
  • Able to routinely exercise appropriate independent judgment with respect to social media postings and other such assigned duties.
  • Strong computer skills: proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word; Photoshop experience helpful.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, project coordination skills, and extreme attention to detail.
  • Must possess a general interest and knowledge of the landscape of sports marketing as well as the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and respond to strict deadlines.
  • Deep knowledge of the social media space.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
  • Ability to complete assigned content in a fast paced, deadline heavy, high pressure live environment.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to climb stairs, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to work effectively while exposed to varying and unpredictable weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, etc.
  • Possess the manual dexterity to effectively operate keyboard/mouse on computers, edit equipment, etc.
  • Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree is required
